'American Idol' 24's Hannah Harper reveals special gift from Carrie Underwood: 'Meant more than anything'
Carrie Underwood recently gifted something very special to her "favorite" American Idol contestant. The contestant in question, Hannah Harper, took to social media to reveal that she had received a gift from Tiffany and a handwritten note from the judge. "Didn’t think my first piece of Tiffany & Co. jewelry would come from Carrie Underwood," the mom of three mentioned in the caption. "But truly, the part that got me the most was the handwritten note. That meant more than anything. Just her taking the time to do that… it says everything about who she is. Y’all, she’s as down-to-earth and genuine as they come. Just a good, kind human. I love her dearly," she added.
In the handwritten note, Underwood congratulated Harper on making it to the Top 11 of the competition. The judge called Harper an "inspiration" to moms and women everywhere. “I cannot wait to see what God has in store for you [and] I am so blessed to have a front row seat,” the country music singer added. Underwood's fondness for the contestant was evident since Harper's audition. The singer auditioned with an original song, 'String Cheese,' which is based on her struggle with postpartum depression. "You’re like my favorite person," Underwood told Harper before she sang. "You’re wearing handmade clothes. You’re singing songs called ‘String Cheese.’" Harper explained that she composed 'String Cheese' after the birth of her youngest son, who is now one year old. Underwood began crying during her performance, and called it "the most relatable song I think I’ve ever heard." Harper wowed the judges with her rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s 'Landslide' during the show’s recent 'Rock & Roll Hall of Fame' night. She is now among the Top 9 still in the running for the top prize.
It is important to note that Underwood gave special gifts to several members of the Top 11, including Keyla Richardson. The contestant took to social media to thank the judge for her "kindness and generosity." "The fact that you took the time to bless someone like that speaks to the incredible woman and class act that you are. American Idol gave us all a gift when it gave us YOU and your legacy continues to inspire every artist who walks through those doors," she wrote. Philmon Lee and Rae became the latest contestants to be eliminated from the show. The Top 9, which includes Braden Rumfelt, Brooks, Chris Tungseth, Daniel Stallworth, Hannah Harper, Jordan McCullough, Keyla Richardson, Kyndal Inskeep, and Lucas Leon, now compete to win the crown. The competition continues when 'American Idol' airs every Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
