K-pop artiste Hyuna, also known as the first female K-pop soloist to get 100 million views on YouTube, will make her much-anticipated comeback on January 28

Record-breaking South Korean K-pop queen Hyuna is back with a January comeback and K-pop fans are losing it over the power that the ‘Bubble Pop!’ singer holds. 

On January 8, ‘Gangnam Style’ singer Psy’s entertainment agency P Nation announced on Instagram that legendary K-pop artiste Hyuna, who is also known as the first female K-pop soloist to get 100 million views on YouTube, will make her comeback on January 28. This bit of news itself sent fans into a frenzy as it has been almost two years since Hyuna released her last track ‘Flower Shower’ after joining P Nation.

Who is Hyuna?

Hyuna, whose birth name is Kim Hyun-ah, has been dazzling the K-pop world with her charm since 2007 when she debuted in Wonder Girls in 2007 under JYP Entertainment. She left the group two years later to join a new girl group 4Minute under Cube Entertainment that will later become the most popular K-pop girl group in South Korea.

Hyuna’s solo career also took off with a bang with her debut single 'Change', which charted at number two on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. Later, her first-ever Extended Play ‘Bubble Pop!’ skyrocketed her popularity further with the title track selling more than three million digital copies as she became the first female K-pop solo artiste to reach 100 million views on a single music video on YouTube. 

Hyuna also appeared in Psy’s global hit ‘Gangnam Style’ duet rendition and later released her second Extended Play ‘Melting’ which gave her first number-one single ‘Ice Cream’. Hyuna ended her contract with Cube Entertainment in 2018 and joined Psy’s P Nation shortly after in 2019. Her single ‘Flower Shower’ with P Nation came on November 5, 2019. 

Hyuna’s comeback

P Nation has been teasing a new comeback for a while without releasing much information about it. Earlier in August 2020, Hyuna was supposed to drop ‘Good Girl’ which was halted later citing health concerns with the singer. Finally, on January 8, it is clear that the K-pop goddess Hyuna will be back with new music this January. Here are all the details that we know about the comeback so far.

Date and time 

Hyuna’s new music will be dropping on January 28, at 6 pm KST sharp.

Concept 

Hyuna is celebrated for her love of "performative music". Among genres, Hyuna is particularly famed for blending bubble pop, rock and her punching vocals in making crown-winning bops.
