LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Samuel 'Samuka' Da Silveira Lima, known in the dance world as Bboy Samuka, is an inspirational breakdancer from Brasília, Brazil. At a young age, he faced a life-changing challenge when he was diagnosed with cancer in his right leg, which ultimately led to an amputation. Despite this setback, Samuka's passion for dance helped him overcome his physical limitations and emerge as a talented and dynamic performer.

His remarkable journey recently took center stage on Season 19 of 'America's Got Talent' (AGT), where he captivated both judges and audience alike with his extraordinary one-legged dance performance, leaving them in awe.

Taking the stage with confidence, he delivered a breathtaking routine using his crutches as extensions of his arms, showing moves that many would deem impossible for someone with a single leg.

Samuka was just 14 years old when he received the devastating news of his cancer diagnosis. The cancer affected his right leg, prompting doctors to make the difficult decision for a full leg amputation below the hip as the necessary course of action to preserve his life. This challenging period could have deterred anyone from pursuing their dreams, but for Samuka, it marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Shortly after his surgery, Samuka was introduced to breakdancing, also known as Bboying and hip-hop. Dance quickly became a source of strength and joy for him. Despite his physical challenges, he developed a dance style that is energetic, dynamic, and powerful. His performances are characterized by incredible balance, creativity, and resilience, setting him apart in the breakdancing community.

What is ILL-Abilities crew?

ILL-Abilities is an international crew made up of dancers from around the world, each navigating their unique physical challenges. In addition to Samuka, the group includes Luca "Lazylegz" Patuelli from Canada, who was born with arthrogryposis, a condition impacting muscle growth in his legs, necessitating the use of crutches for both walking and dancing.

It also includes Tommy 'Guns' Ly from the US, who was born without an arm but has defied the odds to become a skilled breakdancer.

Redouan 'Redo' Ait Chitt from the Netherlands was born with several physical limitations, including a short right arm and a left leg shorter than his right. It also features Sergio 'Checho' Carvajal from Chile, who defies expectations by dancing despite being born without arms. Jung Soo 'Krops' Lee from South Korea is the last member of the crew, who continued to dance even after a neck injury left him partially paralyzed.

ILL-Abilities aims to inspire and motivate others to look beyond their physical limitations, encouraging them to challenge society’s perceptions of disability. The crew members perform and conduct workshops around the world, demonstrating that dance is for everyone and that disabilities do not define a person's abilities.
