LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Jeopardy!’ fans have a new player to root for. A returning champion has taken the game show by storm and fans can’t stop raving about it. Sharing his first name with the former host of ‘Jeopardy!’ Alex Trebek, the returning champion Alex Gordon has impressed everyone with his domineering performance as he racked up nearly $50,000 in two straight games.

Alex had previously defeated Anji Nyquist, shocking the audiences to their core. Anji was a certified player and Alex went past with a blazing performance and banked $25,000 in the game. In the subsequent game, Alex finished with $16,500 to his name, taking his two-day total to $41,500 and establishing his name as a serious contender to beat among the fans. But is there a secret behind Alex’s victories? Does his preparations surpass everyone else’s?

Who is Alex Gordon?

Alex Gordon is a 26-year-old medical student from Somers, New York. He previously studied at Cornell University and made his first appearance on ‘Jeopardy!’ On Thursday (July 6) episode of the game show when he went up against one-day champion, Anji Nyquist, and a retired computer programmer from Owings Mills, Maryland, Carol Oppenheim.

After registering a dominating victory over the one-day champ, Anji, Alex came into the second game on Friday (July 7) ready to take on Raquel Stewart and Tom Zulewski. His impeccable performance continued as by the end of Double Jeopardy!, he had only missed four clues, and had an insurmountable lead of $16,300. In the Final Jeopardy! round, Alex wagered a mere $200 but still came out on top with $16,500 to his name. Fans were in awe of Alex’s performance and praised him diligently. One fan commented, "We might be seeing a lot more of Alex”, while another said, “It's rare that someone's blurb makes me immediately start rooting for them, but this was one of those times.” A third mentioned, “Seeing his mom’s emotion … it’s hard not to tear up. Awesome,” as a fourth echoed, “I’m glad he won. It would have been too sad if he’d skipped graduation, then lost.”

Ken’s been favoring a few and ignoring others

Recently, Ken Jennings, the revered game show host, was accused of favoring a few contestants on the game show with clues and innuendos while ignoring others. The 49-year-old host seemed to be hinting more than normal to contestants when they were answering, specifically Anji's competitors Alex and Carol. Fans weren’t happy with Ken’s biased approach and slammed him for trying to preserve his legacy. Ken recently returned to his hosting duties with fans finally exclaiming that they can “finally watch again.”
