LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The fiery crash story of Anne Heche, which burned down a house, has reportedly come to a tragic end as the actress's family issued a statement, saying she’s “not expected to survive”. The ‘6 Days 7 Nights’ star was involved in a horrific accident last Friday, August 5, while driving her blue Mini Cooper in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles. Since then, she was in severe condition while admitted in the hospital.
However, now her family has said that she “suffered a severe anoxic brain injury”. The heartbreaking update noted, “Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive. It went on to say, “Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”
The statement also added, “We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital.”
Meanwhile, the latest news has left many of her fans heartbroken as they are now praying for her family and children, which she is proud of. No child should lose their mother at such a young age. #KidVicious🙏🏼.” A concerned user shared, “I really feel sorry for Anne Heche's two children! It's not either of their ‘faults’ this happened to their mom. I also hope that a lot of help is out there available for each of them going forward.” Blogger Perez Hilton added, “I really hope #AnneHeche’s children are staying off social media. People are being exceptionally cruel towards their mother!”

Who are Anne Heche's children?
Heche has two sons, named — Homer and Atlas. The ‘Donnie Brasco’ actress’ first born is Homer, whom she shares with cameraman Coleman Laffoon. It has been said that Heche and Laffoon became man and wife in 2001 but the relationship did not last long as they went their separate ways in 2007.
However, the short-lived marriage saw the birth of Homer, whom the ex-couple welcomed in 2002. Heche and Laffoon’s divorce drama also reportedly saw them fighting for their son. Eventually, a judge announced that the 53-year-old actress had to pay “$275,000 to her ex-husband, along with monthly child-support payments of $3,700 for the care of Homer,” Hollywood Life reported. However, the report citing court documents noted that the former pair decided “to split the cost of any ‘agreed upon extracurricular activities’ for their son.”
As per reports, when Heche ended up in hospital after the August 5 crash, Homer began “advocating for the ‘best care’ for his mother.” A source told Entertainment Tonight, “Her family is on pins and needles, just praying,” before adding, “He's being as strong as he can be. Her family is ready to surround her, and be there if she wakes up. Everyone is waiting for that to happen.”
After Laffoon, Heche began a relationship with actor James Tupper and in 2009, welcomed his son, Atlas. But in 2018, they also broke up. In March 2022, Atlas turned 13 and her proud mother took to Instagram to celebrate it. Sharing a cute photo of herself with the second-born, she wrote: “Atlas is a TEEN-AGER? With the children being separated from their parents in the nonsense of hatred and war, I weep, I shared my tears last night. Today I celebrate both of my sons for each of their monumental Birthdays. #13 #20 #loveourchildren #endthewar.”
In 2013, Heche had spoken about being a single mother of two sons. She told breezymama.com, “It’s exactly like they say: girls like to sit and color and they are sweet and they let you comb their hair. Boys… my boys and every other boy I know, are active, active, active. I play with them all the time. I play football, baseball… I play all these things I never thought I would play. Anything with a ball they love. Boys are cuddlers and lovers though. When you tire them out, they love to sit and cuddle their mama. That’s the blessing of boys.”
