Is Halle Berry returning as Storm in 'Avengers: Doomsday'? Oscar-winning actress says 'I would...'
From Robert Downey Jr.'s highly anticipated comeback to Chris Evans' surprising return, Marvel is leaving no stone unturned in building hype around 'Avengers: Doomsday'. Adding to the excitement, rumor mills are rife with the buzz that Halle Berry might return as Storm in the superhero movie. The Oscar-winning actress recently addressed the rumors, and to the disappointment of many fans, said she will not appear in 'Avengers: Doomsday'.
In a candid interview with ScreenRant's Todd Gilchrist for 'Crime 101,' Berry talked about her enduring legacy as Storm in Fox's 'X-Men' films and addressed the rumors about her involvement in the highly anticipated 'Avengers: Doomsday.' While Berry confirmed that she will not appear in 'Avengers: Doomsday', she left the door open for the future, teasing, "And while I'm sad I won't be in Doomsday this round, there are other rounds. And I would do that in a heartbeat."
Her statement reassures fans that although she won't be part of this particular installment, her connection to the 'Marvel' universe and willingness to return remain strong. Berry's mention of "other rounds" could hint at a potential return as Storm in 'Avengers: Doomsday' reshoots, as several cast members are scheduled for additional photography this spring with directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
Marvel actors often have to keep their appearances secret, sometimes denying involvement, which means Berry could appear unexpectedly, similar to Famke Janssen reportedly returning as Jean Grey. Marvel president Kevin Feige has also teased that more characters, possibly including additional 'X-Men', are yet to be revealed. Berry, who portrayed Storm in the 'X-Men' films from 2000 to 2014, called the character "very special" and said she felt blessed to have played her.
When asked about the outpouring of fan affection for the mutants ahead of their upcoming reunion this December, Berry said, "Yeah, I love that. Storm is a very special character to me. I've been so blessed when I've gotten to play her." Berry further explained, "I think the whole world of the X-Men and being mutants and outcasts. And there've been movies that I've been proud to have my children watch. They have so much to say that I thought has been really important, especially for my children as they've grown. So they're beloved." Her words highlight why the character of Storm remains not just iconic, but deeply personal and meaningful for the actress.
While Storm won't appear in 'Avengers: Doomsday,' numerous X-Men alumni, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Rebecca Romijn, are set to reprise their roles, as per Variety. The film will also feature a star-studded ensemble of Marvel heroes and villains, including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, and Downey Jr, who will appear as Doctor Doom rather than Tony Stark.
