'RuPaul's Drag Race' drops star-studded judges lineup as Cardi B joins season 18 for explosive premiere
Get ready to give it up for the drag queens! MTV isn't sparing any effort to make sure that the upcoming January 2, 2026, premiere of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' season eighteen is a massively star-studded affair. To top off the glitz of the drag costumes and the allure of the Werk Room, MTV has now come out with its list of guest stars who will be appearing as judges on the upcoming instalment, and guess what, Cardi B is slated to appear on the premiere episode as the first guest judge to set the ball rolling!
Billboard reports that MTV confirmed on December 9 that Cardi will appear in the premiere episode. The network also released a teaser for the upcoming season, in which Cardi is seen making her glorious way to the famed Werk Room. As the new batch of queens is visibly surprised by her presence, Cardi offers a compliment to one of the queens on the runway, saying, "I would wear this outside."
Apart from the 'Am I the Drama?' rapper, the regular slate of judges includes Carson Kressley, Ts Madison, Ross Matthews, and Michelle Visage, as per a report by Deadline. Other celebrity guest judges who are supposed to make appearances throughout the new season are music producer Benny Blanco, fashion designer Jamal Sims, Dave Cameron, 'One Battle After Another' star Teyana Taylor, and Law Roach. They would also be joined by Danielle Pinnock, Zara Larsson, Brooke Shields, Amy Taylor, Atsuko Okatsuka, Iman, Sarah Sherman, Leland, and Julianne Nicholson.
The upcoming season of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' will throw fourteen competing drag queens into the mix, with all of them vying for the cash prize of $200,000 and the prestigious title of 'America's Next Drag Superstar'. While host RuPaul Charles heralded the new saying by saying, "In shady times let there be drag", he then went on to declare, "Where there's light, there's bound to be shade", as per The Wrap. This effectively set the tone for the show, hinting at themes of light and darkness that may play defining roles in the Werk Room moving forward.
The list of contestants includes Briar Blush, Ciara Myst, Athena Dion, Discord Addams, Jane Don't, Darlene Mitchell, Juicy Love Dion, DD Fuego, Mandy Mango, Mia Starr, Kenya Pleaser, Myki Meeks, Vita VonTesse Starr, and Nini Coco. The show is produced by World of Wonder Productions. RuPaul Charles, Mandy Salangsang, Fenton Bailey, Tom Campbell, Randy Barbato, Michelle Mills, and Steven Corfe are the executive producers, and are led by supervising producer Julie Ha. 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 18 kicks off on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 8 pm ET on MTV.
