Johnny Gill
After Brown had exited from the group in their primetime and became the first member to pursue a solo career, Gill joined the team as one of the lead vocalists and sing some blockbuster hits like 'Can You Stand The Rain' and 'If This Isn’t Love'. Outside the band, Gill witnessed massive success as his 1990 self-titled effort went double-platinum, and follow-ups 'Proactive' (1993) and 'Let’s Get The Mood Right' (1996) both went gold.
Ralph Tresvant
Ralph was the one who guarded the spot as the lead vocalist of the band even when Bobby Brown left and Johnny Gill came. When the original frontman of NE released his self-titled debut album in 1990, it was widely recognized and the album was given serious credibility due to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart-topping single 'Sensitivity'. He even went on act playing Sam Cooke in the 2014 James Brown biopic 'Get On Up'.
Ricky Bell
Ricky was mainly a supporting vocalist in NE. However, the found his niche ever since the emergence of Bell Biv DeVoe where he led the spin-off trio. Their debut effort 'Poison' went 4x platinum with the all-time classic title track. Bell is now busing touring with BBD. The group has been well recognized and they even performed in Steve Harvey’s 'Showtime at the Apollo'. Bell released his solo album in 2000 titled 'Ricardo Campana'.
Michael Bivins
While being in a band, Bivins was always interested in business which is the exact side of the music industry that he explored. Bivins was in NE and then BBD but he's the one to found bands like Boyz II Men and Another Bad Creation. Taking things to the next level, Bivins also started a Motown-distributed record label called Biv 10 Records that produced popular girl group 702.
Ronnie DeVoe
DeVoe was rooting heavily to join New Edition and it was a dream come true when his uncle and choreographer Brooke Payne came to the rescue. He joined NE in the early stages of its development. DeVoe then joined Bell and Bivins for BBD. However, unlike the rest who were always connected to music, DeVoe went on to open DeVoe Broker Associates, a real estate company based in Atlanta, where he acts as the CEO.
