Why did Porno for Pyros break up? Perry Farrell leads band at Lollapalooza days after reunion

Iconic rock band Porno for Pyros performed on day four of Lollapalooza headed by festival founder Perry Farrell. The legendary group had also performed a day earlier at the coveted music fest as a warm-up. The latest performances of Porno for Pyros come after their reunion in May 2022 when they had performed a full set after a gap of more than 25 years.
 
The alternative rock band was formed in 1992 after the break-up of Jane’s Addiction - a band that was led by Perry Farrell too. Porno for Pyros had last performed a complete set on September 17, 1998, in Tampa, Florida. Fans were ecstatic to see the rock band back in action at Lollapalooza 2022. Speaking of the festival, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, J Cole, Green Day, and BTS member J Hope headlined the mega event across the four days.

Why did Porno for Pyros break up?

Porno for Pyros, who had an on and off stint during their short journey, reunited occasionally but never performed a full set until May 2022. The reunion this year came after Jane Addiction member Dave Navarro had to sit out due to complications with Covid. Perry Farrell then decided to resurrect the band for this year’s slot.
 
Though Perry Farrell never shared an official reason behind the split of Porno for Pyros, a report on MTV News in 1998 claimed Farrell’s other priorities were the reason why the band parted ways, as shared by a source close to the band.
 
Porno for Pyro's original members included Perry Farrell (vocals), Stephen Perkins (drums), Peter DiStefeno (guitar) as well as Mike Watt (bass). The band dropped two albums, ‘Porno for Pyros’(1993) and ‘Good God's Urge’ (1996), that unfortunately did not perform well on the charts. 

‘Why don’t good things happen to me’

Social media users took to Twitter as Porno for Pyros performed a thrilling set on the final day of Lollapalooza. “PORNO FOR PYROS at lolla???? i’m crying why don’t good things happen to me,” said one user as another posted, “Well it’s hard to go wrong with Billy Corgan sitting in with Porno For Pyros on a Led Zeppelin cover (“When the Levee Breaks”)."
 
One fan tweeted, “Last day… going to make the most of Day 4 at Lollapalooza! Goth Babe, Beach Bunny, Charli XCX, Local Natives, Porno for Pyros… with Green Day and J-Hope finishing the weekend out for me.”  Another stated, “But like imagine going to lolla and not seeing porno for pyros.” The next one shared, “Porno for Pyros is up on the Lolla stream.” One concluded, “Anyone seeing porno for pyros at lolla just know i am INFINITELY JEALOUS of you.”
