Rachel Weisz turns on the heat in Netflix's steamy 'Vladimir' trailer
Things get steamy between Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall as the duo go on a steamy love affair in Netflix's latest drama, 'Vladimir'. The limited series is a TV adaptation of Julia May Jonas’s novel of the same name. The eight-episode series is set to release on March 5. 'Vladimir' follows a professor whose world changes after she gets obsessed with her new and charismatic colleague.
The official logline reads, "Seduction and obsession collide in ‘Vladimir’ — a provocative limited series brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life." The trailer opens with Weisz lamenting her inability to attract. "It’s come to my attention that I’ve just lost the ability to captivate. It’s like my husband, my students, even my daughter, my entire personhood…useless,” she says. The scene then shifts to Woodall's introduction, followed by the duo's flirtatious relationship, which eventually entwines in a hot affair.
Jonas plays a multi-pronged role as writer, creator, and executive producer. The cast also stars John Slattery, Ellen Robertson, and Jessica Henwick in key roles. Rounding up the list are Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jone,s and Louise Lambert. Weisz also executive produces the series alongside Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, and Kira Carstensen. Jason Winer & Jon Radler, Shari Springer Berman, and Robert Pulcini round up the rest of the EPs.
Speaking to Tudum, Weisz previewed the series. "At the beginning of the series, my character and her husband have been the king and queen of the English literary department," the actress said. "She is losing her throne. Even her sole child, Sid (Ellen Robertson), swats her away." Jonas also added, "It’s that feeling of being so full of creative energy because you have this lust or obsession for someone. Many people have felt that kind of opening [up] — how fun it is to want something,” says Jonas. “Her mind is going wild."
"You have direct access to what the character is thinking and then also what she wants you to think. What she wants you to think is a little distant from the total truth," Weisz detailed her character on the show.
