'RHONY' stars off to Florida as spinoff 'The Golden Life' finally gets greenlight - here's everything we know
At the heart of the popular reality television show 'Real Housewives of New York City' is the unputdownable camaraderie between the leading cast members, including Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan. It goes without saying that if and when there were to be a potential 'RHONY' spinoff show based on these five energetic reality television stalwarts, the audience would lap it up with great enthusiasm. In an interesting turn of events, E! News reports that the network has finally greenlit the spinoff show, now called 'The Golden Life'.
According to another report by The Palm Beach Post, filming for the upcoming spinoff, set in the Sunshine State, is slated to begin in the spring. As of this writing, E! hasn't yet revealed an official release date. Even before the spinoff made it to television screens, one of the show's stars had been mired in controversy. Zarin recently found herself at the receiving end of flak following her comments in a now-deleted social media video denouncing Bad Bunny's halftime show at the 2026 Super Bowl. As a direct consequence, Zarin has been let go from the show.
The official synopsis of 'The Golden Life' reads, "Bound by decades of shared history, fallouts, and friendship, this fan-favorite group of New Yorkers are starting fresh together in the Sunshine State. In this new 'golden' era of life, the longtime friends are thriving in and around Palm Beach with fabulous second homes and a bustling social scene. With their signature humor and non-stop hijinks, the series will follow the group as they navigate dating, family, and career milestones."
The group of popular housewives came together for the first time with the premiere of the debut season of 'RHONY' back in 2008, and since then, have been an integral part of each other's lives, notwithstanding the infighting and ensuing drama. As expected, the upcoming spinoff will find them in several moments of dramatic deadlock, which would be quite difficult to resolve. This is further evidenced by the official synopsis, which concludes, "Though skies are bright in Florida, unresolved drama looms as they reconnect after years of highs and lows."
Furthermore, Luann herself had teased the spinoff in an earlier interview back in October 2025 when she commented, "I think that we all have our lives, Sonja is in Florida, Ramona is in Florida, Jill’s in Florida. So maybe there’s a little OG Florida action going on.” Val Boreland is the President of Entertainment at VERSANT, and in a recently released statement, he echoed the excitement felt by the cast members when he said, "We’re thrilled to welcome reality TV royalty to E! for a reunion fans have been waiting for. The energy within this group has always been electric, and we’re excited to watch it unfold in a new chapter of life by the beach.” 'RHONY' is available for streaming exclusively on Peacock.
