It has been almost seven years since the polarising final episode of 'Game of Thrones' aired on May 19, 2019. Still, the appetite for George R.R. Martin's thrilling world of dragons, ice zombies, and deadly rulers remains intact among fans. Last month, there were reports of a 'Game of Thrones' movie being in development. Now, fans can rejoice, as the makers have confirmed the news by revealing the project's working title: 'Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest.' Warner Bros. revealed the title of the feature film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on April 14 as part of its "2027 and beyond" announcements, as per Variety.

The film will be written by Beau Willimon, who previously co-wrote 'Andor' and helmed the landmark show 'House of Cards.' The upcoming title will mark the first feature film adaptation of one of Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' books. The film will reportedly explore the story of Aegon I Targaryen, who is often mentioned in 'Game of Thrones' and 'House of the Dragon' as a great conqueror. As per 'Fire and Blood,' Aegon was the first ruler to unite all the seven kingdoms. However, it is important to note that the last episode of 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' revealed that there are actually nine kingdoms, and 'Seven Kingdoms' has become a commonly used phrase to describe the rule of Westeros. Nonetheless, Aegon I or Aegon the Dragon was the one to unite them into one large kingdom. He was also the king who forged the legendary Iron Throne.

However, one must not confuse Aegon I and Aegon V (Egg from 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'). As the conqueror of the Seven Kingdoms, Aegon I’s story predates every other 'Game of Thrones' series to date. Other than Aegon, his sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys, are also often mentioned in 'Game of Thrones.' As the Targaryens are known for their complicated personal relationships, it's possible that their characters may be a big part of the story. 'Game of Thrones' remains a landmark show in the history of television. The stories and characters penned by George R.R. Martin have universal appeal. The recent success of 'House of the Dragon' and 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' proves that fans are not over the world of Westeros yet, and HBO has renewed both shows for another season. Fans are now eager to see what the first-ever movie of the franchise brings to the table.
