'The Drama' trailer sees Robert Pattinson, Zendaya endure relationship crisis before their D-Day
Just how much sharing is too much sharing? Robert Pattinson and Zendaya learn it the hard way in the full-length trailer of 'The Drama'. Writer and director Kristoffer Borgli’s romance drama is slated to release on April 3, and puts the spotlight on Emma Harwood (Zendaya) and British Museum director Charlie Thompson (Pattinson). Their relationship upon engagement turns south after a grim and shocking revelation comes to light during their wedding week.
The trailer sees the two struggle with wedding speeches, a lot of laughs, and flirty chemistry. It all screeches to a halt when the classic "What's the worst thing you've ever done?" question comes to the picture. While the trailer doesn't reveal what Emma did, it does set the tone for awkward silences between her and a confused Charlie, and the wheels coming off the happy cart.
The movie's official logline reads, "A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails." Also starring in key roles are Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates.
Both stars have a packed year with Zendaya working on the third season of HBO's hit series, 'Euphoria', and Christopher Nolan’s 'The Odyssey'. She will also voice Felicia, the teenage daughter of Shrek and Fiona in 'Shrek 5'. Pattinson will feature in 'The Odyssey' as well, and in 'Dune: Part III' alongside his 'The Drama' co-star. He will be seen in Denzel Washington's 'Here Comes the Flood' on Netflix.
Earlier, the 'Batman' star shared some of their experiences while on the sets of 'The Drama'. Pattinson, in an interview with French publication Première, revealed his conundrum with a segment of the script. He added how Zendaya was a massive help. "We had a scene together that was driving me crazy."
"I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing page after page of textual analysis. I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning," Pattinson explained. "And there I was going crazy for three days." He further added, "I tend to stumble over the meaning of things. To the point of overdoing it, trying to solve mysteries that aren't really mysteries."
'The Drama' releases April 3, 2026, in cinemas.
