'The Drama' trailer: Zendaya, Robert Pattinson gear up for a nervy wedding of the year
Zendaya and Robert Pattinson's much-awaited 'The Drama' gave fans what to expect from the romcom with a new trailer. The movie is slated to release on April 3, 2026. The clip spans close to a minute and a half and sees a nervous Pattinson and Zendaya as two newly-engaged couples.
The teaser opens on a nervous-looking Emma Harwood (Zendaya) and Charlie Thompson (Pattinson) getting some pictures clicked ahead of their wedding. The photographer asks them to put away their "nerves” and tries posing them next to each other and asking them to smile like they would in real life.
The scene shifts to the photographer also asking them their favorite things about each other and receiving standard answers in return. Charlie calls Emma 'beautiful' and 'funny', while Emma calls him caring, understanding, and open-minded. The clip takes a dark turn midway as Pattinson's Charlie is seen throwing a chair, while Zendaya's Emma guzzles down some liquor. The film's cast also includes Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim and Hailey Gates.
In related news, A24 posted a new announcement on Instagram, calling the duo's wedding the "wedding of the year". It also provided a glimpse of their character backgrounds. Emma’s father is a decorated military veteran, and her parents live in Louisiana. Emma studied English at Boston University, and Charlie has a Ph.D in art history from Tufts University and serves as the director of the Cambridge Arts Museum.
At the time of writing, there is no official logline for the film. The trailer's caption by A24 reads, "From writer/director Kristoffer Borgli and starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. THE DRAMA – Save the date, April 3." Earlier, the 'Batman' star shared some of their experiences while on the sets of 'The Drama'. Pattinson, in an interview with French publication Première, revealed his conundrum with a segment of the script. He added how Zendaya was a massive help.
"We had a scene together that was driving me crazy. I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing page after page of textual analysis. I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning," Pattinson explained.
Safe to say, the wait for the wedding of the year will be a long one after a promising teaser.
