‘Ted' Season 2: Foul-mouthed teddy bear returns in chaotic trailer and honestly, we can’t wait
Certain shows and characters perhaps wouldn't exist in an ideal world. However, the world is sort of a better and, albeit funnier, place owing to their existence! Seth McFarlane's 'Ted' is one such show. As if the movie franchise starring Mark Wahlberg wasn't enough, the foul-mouthed talking teddy bear was brought over to television, rightfully anticipating renewed popularity. The show's debut season premiered on Peacock on January 11, 2024, and was an instant success. Now is the time for Season 2 as it seeks to meet that benchmark. The trailer for the same dropped on Thursday.
The recently released trailer takes us back to 1994 when Ted and his dependable friend John Bennett are trying their best to navigate their senior year in high school, as per ScreenRant. The action is set against the backdrop of Framingham, Massachusetts, which is a working-class Boston suburb. Ted and John are joined by the latter's parents, Matty and Susan, played by Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach, respectively. There's also John's rebellious cousin Blaire, portrayed on-screen by Giorgia Whigham. Between themselves, this dysfunctional family provides several moments of mirth and laughter, which is enough to keep the audience glued to their screens.
The trailer dropped several interesting developments from the sophomore season. For starters, both Ted and John are characteristically incompetent enough to land themselves in one pickle after another. They are also seen using a school phone line to call up a phone s** service, and one can guess how that went. Furthermore, Brett Mulligan was seen as a guest star, serving as the gamemaster for a round of 'Dungeons & Dragons' in which Ted and John indulge.
In addition, Blaire's character arc is quite dynamic in the second season, as her family continues to grapple with her revelation of her fluid sexual identity. Blaire will be seen coping with the pain of her breakup with her friend Sarah. She eventually gets drunk with Ted, and the two end up making out. The rest of the comedy will perhaps stem from the interpersonal struggles that continually persist throughout the family, including the blue-collar worker Matty, who loathes having anyone in the family question his authority, particularly Blaire.
McFarlane also serves as writer, director, executive producer, and co-showrunner on 'Ted', contributing his voice and motion capture to bring the talking teddy bear to life. He recently released a statement, as recounted by AWN, "We’ve made a second season of our show 'Ted', which we are excited to share with you. The episodes represent the hard work of our fellow writers, gifted actors, and talented crew, including the visual effects team who bring the character of Ted so convincingly to life." All episodes of 'Ted' season two will begin streaming on Peacock on March 5, 2026.
