Duffer Brothers’ new horror show ‘Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen’ to drop soon — here’s how to watch
The Duffer Brothers have seemingly moved on from the uncanny Hawkins, Indiana, depicted in 'Stranger Things' onto several other projects, the chief among them being the upcoming Netflix horror series, 'Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen'. The title of the eight-part horror series, which premieres on the streaming platform on March 26, 2026, isn't a spoiler but rather a premonition of the unsettling events that follow. Created by Haley Z. Boston, the show is directed and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, in addition to Weronika Tofilska of 'Baby Reindeer' fame.
The plot of the series follows Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco as Rachel and Nicky, respectively. They are a couple on their way to tie the knot. However, in anticipation of the wedding, disturbing events soon rock the couple to their core. Nicky's family is a bizarre bunch, as Rachel finds out to her dismay. It doesn't help that 'The Silence of the Lambs' star Adam Levine appears in the upcoming series as Nicky's father, Boris, while the character of his mother is played by Jennifer Jason Leigh of 'Fargo' fame. Rachel is besieged by inhibitions and second thoughts as he debates over whether she should walk down the aisle with Nicky at all. This is a horror series that doesn't explicitly rely on jump scares, and instead lets the atmosphere do much of the scary work. Thematically, Boston described the show as being somewhere between 'Carrie' and 'Rosemary's Baby'.
The remaining members of the cast include Gus Birney, Karla Crome, Jeff Wilbusch, Zlatko Burić, and Sawyer Fraser. Boston previously wrote the screenplay for Guillermo Del Toro's 'Cabinet of Curiosities' and 'Brand New Cherry Flavour'. She recently made her directorial debut with the short film 'Beach Logs Kill', which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival this year. Speaking in an interview with Tudum by Netflix, Boston shed light on her approach to the upcoming series when she said, "I love horror. It’s natural to me (it’s how) I process my own emotions and feelings and my own understanding of the world. I think horror allows you to explore taboo feelings and take all of these fears and give them some bite.” The showrunner further added, "When I was a kid, my mom said to me, ‘You just need to make sure you don’t marry the wrong person.’ The show is about the fear of marrying the wrong person."
