‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 confirms major new additions to cast, including a favorite from ‘Mindhunter’
If you thought that you'd have to wait an eternity for the third instalment of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians', think again. The cast and crew of the Disney+ show are already working on the upcoming third season as of this writing, Deadline reports. While the second season of the show continues airing new episodes every Thursday, eventually looking forward to its season finale releasing on January 21, 2026, an interesting update from the third season has presented itself with a fresh look at the ensemble cast.
TVLine confirmed that versatile actor Holt McCallany has been signed on for the upcoming instalment in a recurring guest role that will see him portraying Titan Atlas. The iconic and formidable Titan, who was once denounced by Zeus and meted out the punishment of holding up the heavens, will be seen as the chief antagonist on the show's third season. This is in keeping with the source material, i.e. author Rick Riordan's third novel in the series, titled 'The Titan's Curse'. McCallany won't simply appear as the recognizable villain on the Disney+ show in the near future, but will do so through six episodes.
The plot of the third season will find Titan earning his freedom from his condemnation and leading the armies of Kronos in a war of attrition. The book further describes Titan kidnapping goddess Artemis and Annabeth, with Percy combining forces to rescue them. On the other hand, David Costabile has been roped in to play Dr. Thorn. Being a 'military academy headmaster' who is also a strict disciplinarian, the doctor is but a human manifestation of a far more sinister force. This goes on to foreshadow the tonality of the third season, which is reportedly speculated to be much darker than the first two instalments.
The final addition to the cast so far is that of Jesse L. Martin, who will be seen as Annabeth's human father, Frederick Chase, who is an otherwise excellent military historian but at times forgets his way about the world. Being Athena's human husband, he was given the responsibility to raise Annabeth by the goddess herself. His character description further reads, "Frederick and Annabeth have had a complicated relationship; he loves her, and they have been finding a way back to each other."
The rest of the confirmed cast so far includes Dafne Keen as Artemis, Saara Chaudry as Zoe Nightshade, Olive Abercombie and Levi Chrisopulos as Bianca and Nico di Angelo, and Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite. A potential release date is yet to be announced for the third season, however, we know that principal photography for the same is already underway in Vancouver, Canada. The ongoing second season airs new episodes every Thursday exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States.
