When will 'Incredibles 3' release? Pixar finally confirms release date for the long-awaited sequel
The superpowered Parr family is once again poised to liven up our theatre screens with their singular exploits. The third instalment of Pixar's 'Incredibles' movie franchise, 'Incredibles 3,' has been in the pipeline for quite a while. Anticipation for the movie is at an all-time high, and with Pixar recently announcing the official release date of 'Incredibles 3', things just got way more interesting.

Pixar recently declared on their official X account that 'Incredibles 3' will arrive in theatres on June 16, 2028. The film, which was officially announced at D23 in 2024, will return to theatres exactly a decade and a day after the release of 'Incredibles 2'. The news update further revealed that the original director, Brad Bird, who has penned the screenplay for the upcoming movie, will be stepping aside. Instead of Bird, Peter Sohn of 'Elemental' fame will be taking up the captain's hat. In the photo attached to the post, Pixar revealed the official logo for the upcoming movie. The logo retains the franchise's official icon, adding a signifier to hint at the trilogy's place within it.
Looking forward to the theatrical calendar in 2028, not many movies have been added to it so far. Nevertheless, it is clear that 'Incredibles 3' will be directly competing with DC's animated flick 'Dynamic Duo.' 'Incredibles 3' will release in theatres two weeks before 'Dynamic Duo,' and both of them target a similar audience. The latter film follows the origin stories of Jason Todd and Dick Grayson, two of Batman's Robins, and is scheduled to hit theatres on June 30, 2028. On the other hand, Disney's live-action caper 'Lilo and Stitch 2' will hit the big screens on Memorial Day that year, along with the yet-untitled 'Mummy 4,' which is expected to premiere on May 19. Even an animated 'Hello Kitty' movie is on the cards for the 2028 theatrical calendar, and might arrive in theatres on July 21.
While the original 'Incredibles' movie debuted during the holiday season on November 5, 2004, the sequel movie brought about a significant change when it shifted its focus to the summer season. This gamble paid off immensely, as the second part brought in a considerable $182.7 million at the box office, compared to the original movie's $70.5 million. The sequel also grossed $1.243 billion worldwide, according to a ScreenRant report. However, while the figures certainly speak for themselves, one must also consider that the sequel benefited from catering to an established brand. Similarly, the upcoming third instalment is poised to hit the jackpot as well, and it remains to be seen whether it will outperform 'Incredibles 2.'
