When will ‘The Unstoppable’ air? Dave Chappelle announces surprise Netflix special you need to watch
Dave Chappelle has a holiday special for stand-up fans. The comedian and actor is dropping a new Netflix special, titled 'The Unstoppable'. Chappelle made the announcement just before the main event during the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight night on December 18.
"I wanted to shout out my hometown, Washington, D.C., and thank everybody that came out in October to support me at that show," Chappelle said on the livestream. “I just want you to know that the show will be streaming on Netflix tonight after the fight. My new special drops, and I hope you love them. Thank you very much," he said.
The Paul vs. Joshua fight brought Netflix stars and other marquee celebrities ringside in Miami, including Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria, director Benny Safdie, comedians Bert Kreischer and Matt Rife, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, singer Shaggy, and more.
Earlier this year, Chappelle spoke of not doing press interviews during his chat with Mo Amer on 'Actors on Actors'. Per Variety, the comedian copped immense flak for his jokes mocking transgender people in his 2021 Netflix special "The Closer."
"This is the elephant in the room," he said. "You got a deal at Netflix to produce a show, and then right as you were starting production [on Season 2], Oct. 7 happened. And this is something that you were going to have to address, artistically or not. And what I was curious about is the process of going through that. By some weird accident, you found yourself being a solo Palestinian voice in a very critical time in human history." On the show, he touched on a string of topics.
Chappelle also spoke about the Charlie Kirk death on the show, saying, "This is another reason it’s hard to talk in America, because if you talk for a living and see Charlie Kirk get murdered that way, I’m gonna be honest, I was shook.” He added that when initial (later walked back) reports came out that trans messages were inscribed on the bullets shot at Kirk, "I was at home like, ‘Oh no! I’m dead as fried chicken.'"
He further added, "Charlie Kirk is this generation’s Martin Luther King. No, he’s not. That’s a reach. They both got murdered terribly, they both got shot in the neck, but that’s about where those similarities end."
'Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable' is streaming on Netflix.
