‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Part 2 trailer finally confirms return of missing character and we're thrilled
The first part of 'Bridgerton' Season 4 ended with an intriguing cliffhanger that kept audiences wishing for more. On one hand, Luke Thompson's Benedict Bridgerton couldn't help but fall deeper in love with maid Sophie Baek, played beautifully by Yerin Ha, and on the other, the consummation of their love was still restricted by the Regency-era show's strict moral code. When Benedict asked Sophie to be his mistress by the staircase, she had no recourse but to flee the scene, unwilling as she was to be a second-best option for someone and not a bride.
Netflix recently dropped a complete trailer for the upcoming second part of 'Bridgerton' Season 4. Apart from effectively setting the stage for a dramatic showdown of love, the trailer further teased the return of two fan-favourite characters, whose absence in the first part of the Netflix shows was deeply felt by the audience. The trailer begins with Benedict writing in the throes of pain, caught in the dilemma he faces. 'I cannot love a maid, and yet you have taken possession of me,' says Benedict, knowing full well that he can't imagine a life for himself without Sophie and yet can't pronounce his love for her to his family.
Elsewhere on the trailer, Jonathan Bailey is seen reprising his role of Anthony Bridgerton. Although missing from the first part, Anthony and his wife Kate have returned from the latter's hometown in India. Furthermore, Kate has also given birth to their child, and the trailer briefly introduced the infant, who is also the heir to their viscountcy. Since he can relate to the tough predicament his brother now finds himself in, Anthony offers Benedict some much-needed brotherly advice: ''You've convinced yourself that she is reason enough to risk everything." It can thus be speculated that Benedict won't face the threat of social stigma alone in the upcoming second part and can count on his brother and sister-in-law for support.
Meanwhile, Sophie is seen developing a pleasant relationship with Alfie, a footman at Penwood House. Although Alfie advises Sophie to open her heart to Benedict and shed her past baggage, she is particularly careful in making up her mind. "She doesn’t trust anyone who says, ‘I promise this for you,’ because that has never been true for Sophie,” Ha said in an interview with Tudum. Apart from this, other narrative arcs featured in the trailer include Adoja Andoh's Lady Danbury, who desires to resign from her position as the lady-in-waiting to Queen Charlotte and return to her ancestral home. 'Bridgerton' Season 4, part two, arrives on February 26, exclusively on Netflix.
