It is the onset of Spring in 'When the Weather is Fine' Episode 14 and Hyecheon is organizing a rice cake festival in honor of the same. While the town is gearing up for the same, they also continue to gossip about everything. From Jang-woo's blind date, Eun-sil's break up to Hae-won's aunt's medical condition -- everything is just a source of entertainment for these women and men of Hyecheon.

All of this happens after Hae-won (Park Min-young) finds her aunt Myeong-yu passed out in her room in the morning. Hae-won was unaware of her aunt's condition and in this episode, she finds out that Myeong-ju (Moon Jeong-Hee) is partially blind and also has glaucoma which must have resulted in her experiencing a lot of pain. When she tries to inform her mother of this shocking incident, the only reaction that she gets from Myeong-yu is "Okay".

Myeong-yu, on the other hand, doesn't want to be treated for her illness and instead is adamant that she will not stay admitted in the hospital either. This frustrates Hae-won, but when she tries to convince her aunt, all that she hears is a question about when she plans to return to Seoul. After all, Hae-won had always left Hyecheon when the weather turned for the better, and at the onset of Spring. Both Hae-won and Eun-seop (Kang Seo-joon) are aware that their time together might be coming to an end if Hae-won decides to return to Seoul, but is that what she really wants? Because all that awaits her in the city is the burden of silence, isolation, and loneliness.

In the meanwhile, Myeong-ju (Jin Hee-Kyung) returns to Hyecheon to check out what is wrong with her sister. When she finds out about her medical condition, Myeong-ju is angry that her sister did not live her life fully as she had expected and instead imprisoned herself within Hodu House in Hyecheon because she was unable to deal with the guilt of having killed someone. In addition to this, she was not even able to confide in anyone because her sister was sent to jail in her stead and all of this has only pressured her into punishing herself. We also see how this incident transformed Myeong-yu into a completely different person that even her own sister couldn't comprehend the changes.

From a woman who was passionate, who wanted to do everything possible and experience the world, Myeong-yu has transformed into someone who has lost all hope and dreams and has even given up on love. She believes that she has no reason to live, and her sister Myeong-ju is also unable to convince her sister to live otherwise.

Surprisingly, Myeong-yu ends up sending her novel titled 'Maze of Sisterfeild' to Eun-seop for him to check. But why would she need his take on a novel that has nothing really to do with him and to let him decide if he wants to let Hae-won read it, putting him in a spot that he doesn't deserve to be in. If anyone were to decide if Hae-won was to know the truth, it must be Myeong-yu herself. Also, after reading this, Hae-won might just decide to leave Hyecheon after reading this and yet, Eun-seop decides to do what is best for her.

Now that Hae-won has read the most important part of the novel she is unable to take it all in and at that moment, we see Myeong-ju return and the mother and daughter confront each other over the truth. She is unable to digest the fact that her aunt, the only person she could lean on and trust was the one to kill her dad. She is unable to consider how his abusive behavior resulted in her aunt's actions, and can only think of how betrayed she feels at the moment and the only person who seems to be able to let her be is Eun-seop.

Despite the morbid situation in Hae-won's house, the town itself is in high spirits over the change of the season and the festival. And when one of the sick book club members returns home, the others make it an occasion and welcome little Seung-ho's grandfather with warmth and love and how the show manages to balance macabre with wholesomeness is beautiful.

New episodes of 'When the Weather is Fine' will air on Mondays and Tuesdays on JTBC.
