LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rapper Tory Lanez, 30, was found guilty on December 23, 2022 by a Los Angeles jury for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, 27, in the feet during a 2020 argument in Hollywood Hills. Lanez has remained in jail without bail since the verdict on December 23. In a recent development, the request to postpone Lanez's sentencing has been approved and the sentencing has been rescheduled from January 27 to February 28. Lanez has been charged with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner to cause bodily injury.

Lanez has switched attorneys since his conviction as he faces a maximum potential sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison. According to TMZ, Lanez hired popular defense lawyer Jose Baez, besides retaining two other counsels David E Kenner and Matthew Barhoma. Meanwhile, Lanez's fans are pinning their hopes on the new defense lawyer Baez. Lanez's sentencing was earlier scheduled for January 27 in the downtown Los Angeles courtroom but was postponed at the request Kenner, one of Lanez's new attorneys.

As reported by Fox 11 LA, Kenner toldd Superior Court Judge David Herriford that he is waiting for copies of transcripts from last month's trial so that the defense can prepare a motion for the rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson Lanez.

A Twitter user posted about Jose Baez, calling him Lanez's new lawyer, adding that Baez also represented Harvey Weinstein. "One of Tory Lanez's new lawyers, Jose Baez, charges a $200K monthly retainer, non-refundable. He represented Harvey Weinstein in his rape case for 5 months and charged him $1M. Weinstein later lost that case," revealed their tweet.

However, Lanez's fans are hopeful that Baez will be able to get the rapper out. "He also represented Aaron Hernandez from my recollection. He’s a formidable criminal defense attorney. Made a name for himself after the Casey Anthony case," wrote another user. "If he gets Tory out of jail then he is worth every penny," added another.
