'Wheel of Fortune' host Pat Sajak, 75, is facing backlash for being too rude to one of the show’s participants. After interviewing contestant Scott Ingwersen, the controversial host called his story the “most pointless story ever told.”

Viewers of the show took to their social media and called out Pat for being rude to the contestant.

Pat was quite unimpressed with Ingwersen’s survival saga. The game-show host looked at Ingwersen’s flashcard, where Ingwersen mentioned that his big toe got chopped off in an accident when he was 12, and it had now been reattached. The audience sympathized with his story and applauded his reply to the impolite host.

A user posted the clip from the show, and wrote, “Poor Scott just wanted to tell his story. Pat just throwing the shade 😂 #WheelOfFortune #patsajak”.

Pat questioned Ingwersen, “Why am I mentioning this? It's on your card. You had your big toe chopped off. Why are you telling this?”

Ingwersen, 47, then explained his heart-breaking saga to the host. “It's important to know that when I was 12 years old, I was riding a 10-speed bike with flip-flops, and I fell and completely cut off the top of my toe,” Ingwersen told him.

He added, “The next car that came by were two paramedics that were on their way to their job, and they said, 'It's just a laceration'. But I didn't know what that was, so it freaked me out even more. And my toe is reattached, and I just want to say thank you to them 30 years later.”

The audience lauded Ingwersen, but Pat snarkingly replied, “That may have been the most pointless story ever told. And you told it, Scott. Congratulations to you.” The incident became viral and fans criticized Sajak’s apathetic behavior and called out his “a**hole move”.

A Twitter user demanded an apology and tweeted, “So @patsajak got on his  @WheelofFortune high horse a week ago & lectured everyone to be nice to contestants who couldn’t solve an easy puzzle, but tonight he had no problem belittling and insulting a contestant who told their intro story. Scott needs an apology. #WheelOfFortune.”

Another wrote, “Is anyone else watching #WheelofFortune??? Pat Sajak is such an asshole who says to someone “that’s the most pointless story ever” when someone is opening up on National TV???”

'Wheel of Fortune' is an American television game show that airs on weekdays. The participants of the show get money even if they don’t win a puzzle; they are given a consolation amount of $1,000 for making an appearance on the show.
