LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Strangers: Chapter 1' marks the latest addition to Bryan Bertino's popular psychological horror franchise called 'The Strangers'. The first installment of this much-awaited trilogy premiered in theaters on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Leaving fans bowled over with intense thrills and horror, the installment concluded on a cliffhanger, heightening anticipation for the sequel.

The film concludes without revealing the identity and intentions of the attackers. Meanwhile, their brutal attack leaves our protagonists, Maya (Madelaine Petsch) and Ryan (Froy Gutierrez), injured and bleeding on the floor.

However, if you stick around a little longer, the mid-credit scene will make certain revelations that you can't miss out on!

The film concludes with the attackers leaving the Airbnb as the police arrive. Earlier in the film, Maya managed to call 911, asking for help.

However, as the couple appears lifeless on the floor, the film abruptly ends, leaving their fate uncertain.

Fortunately, the mid-credit scene doesn't disappoint. Maya is seen waking up in a hospital, but the lingering danger becomes apparent as the masked attacker is also present in the hospital room.

Sadly, Ryan's fate remains uncertain in the first installment. He sustained a fatal wound to the chest and was shown bleeding profusely in the final moments of the film.

Chances of his survival are quite slim and we expect Maya's journey to be carried forward in the next two installments.

Why did the masked attackers try to kill Maya and Ryan in 'The Strangers: Chapter 1'?

As previously mentioned, the film does not reveal the identity or intentions of the three masked attackers.

In the film's final moments, Maya asks why they are being attacked. The Dollface comes closer to her and chillingly responds, "Because you're here."

Her reply suggests that the attackers didn't harbor a personal vendetta against Maya and Ryan. Instead, they likely targeted them for their amusement or thrill.

The film appears to underscore the random nature of violence, a theme carried over from the previous 'The Strangers' films. It emphasizes the fear and consequences that arise when confronted with random, unknown terror.

Through the trilogy, we hope to gain a deeper understanding of the psychology behind individuals who attack random people without any apparent reason.

When will 'The Strangers: Chapter 2' release?

The sequel to Madelaine Petsch's starrer slasher film is confirmed. 'The Strangers: Chapter 2' is already in the works and is expected to be released later in 2024.

In the upcoming installment, we may see Maya dealing with the aftermath of the attack. If Ryan is dead, she will take time to grieve and will probably get back to the town to discover why the attackers went after them.

Maya might attempt to move forward with her life while the attackers chase her.

No matter which direction the makers choose for the sequel, we can expect to experience intense, nail-biting thrills and horror.
