After making bold waves for fashion as Emily Cooper in Netflix's 'Emily in Paris', Lily Collins is set to play one of the most enigmatic fashion icons, Audrey Hepburn, in her next. The British-American actress has been tapped to play Hepburn in the making of the 1961 classic 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s'. Per Variety, Collins will also serve as a producer. Alena Smith of 'Dickinson' fame pens the script, while a director is yet to be confirmed. The project is based on Sam Wasson's book, 'Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.'

'Breakfast at Tiffany's' was adapted for the big screen from Truman Capote's novella of the same name. The film follows high-flying socialite Holly Golightly as she meets a struggling writer seeking his big break. The upcoming film chronicles the making of the classic film that was marred by enough pre-production drama. Per reports, Capote wanted Marilyn Monroe to play the lead, but Paramount made a bold move by casting Hepburn instead.

The official logline of the classic reads, "Based on Truman Capote's novel, this is the story of a young woman in New York City who meets a young man when he moves into her apartment building. He is with an older, very wealthy woman, but he wants to be a writer. She is working as an expensive escort and searching for a rich, older man to marry." Other cast members included George Peppard, Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney.

Collins took to Instagram to share the news. "It's with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…" the actress wrote as she shared an image of Hepburn from the film, and a screenshot of a report confirming the news. Collins became a household name with Netflix's hit romance drama, 'Emily in Paris', which was recently renewed for a sixth season. Her other major credits include 'Rules Don't Apply', 'The Blind Side', and 'Mirror Mirror'.

As for Hepburn, the actress was one of the key names headlining the Golden Age of Hollywood. She went on to star in classics like 'Funny Face' and 'Sabrina' before her brilliant performance in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's. The film was nominated for five Oscars, with Hepburn nominated for Best Actress. The movie later won two awards for Best Score and Song.

At the time of writing, there is no word on when the movie's production will begin. Other casting updates and principal photography are expected to trickle in later this year. Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Justin Wilkes serve as producers. Marc Gilbar will executive produce the film, with Joyce Choi overseeing the development for Imagine Entertainment. Michael Shamberg, Sam Wasson, and Brandon Millan round up the list of EPs.
