South Korean news outlet Dispatch released a set of evidence pieces to give fans of the girl group AOA a clear idea as to who was in the wrong with regards to the ongoing scandal between members of the K-pop group. In July of 2020, Kwon Mina pulled the lid on a dating and bullying scandal. She accused her former group leader, Jimin, of bullying her over a period of ten years and being extremely harsh with her.

Though nothing more was revealed to the public at that time, Mina kept on reiterating her argument by saying she was building a legal case against Jimin and would get justice for herself. All this went down the drain when Dispatch revealed a long thread of chats where members of the group tried to talk it out with Mina and somewhat resolve the problem.

Is Kwon Mina the culprit?

Mina on the other hand sent a lot of accusatory messages to Jimin, even after the apparent resolution of the bullying issue. Chats of Mina with the staff during her days with AOA were revealed, painting an even worse picture for Mina. As soon as this was done, Mina deleted all her posts on Instagram.

In her statement where she responded to the accusations by fans, she said, “I know who the managers are, and I remember all the contents, including the stories of the managers who were reported. I'd rather have the transcripts released so that their voices can be heard from the beginning to the end.” She emphasized that the text transcripts had been manipulated and are painting her out to be the bad guy when she was the victim.

AOA Members activities

After the scandal broke out in July 2020, Jimin left the girl group and also announced her retirement from the entertainment industry. The original eight-member lineup of the 2012 group had been changing since the year 2016. Members Youkyung and ChoA left the group in the years 2016 and 2017 respectively. Kwon Mina left the group in 2019 to pursue her acting career.

The four-member group then saw Jimin leave in 2020 due to the bullying scandal while Yuna left the group in 2021 after her contract expired. With the band now remaining with three surviving members - Hyejong, Seolhyun, and Chanmi, it is hard to judge the fate of the group as it has also not released any new music since 2019.

Recently on an online community site, a fan said, "I saw Seolhyun and Jimin come together for a photo exhibition in June." The fan also shared a photo taken with Seolhyun and Jimin during the photo exhibition. With this public appearance with another member of the group, fans of Jimin are hoping that she makes a comeback soon.
