What happened to Elissa Finley? ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 10 contestant rushed to hospital from pods
Life often takes unpredictable turns for reality show contestants, but Elissa Finley's experience on 'Love Is Blind' Season 10 was truly out of the blue. In an unexpected turn of events, the nurse temporarily faced issues with her vision during the show, causing panic among both the contestants and the production team. Fortunately, timely medical intervention helped her recover quickly, and she was able to continue her journey on the show without missing any important dates.
At the end of 'Love Is Blind' Season 10 Episode 1, Finley was seen crying and panicking in the women's quarters. A medic came and took her away, leaving everyone confused. In Episode 2, she explained that the situation was caused by a mix-up with a bottle of eye drops. Finley shared, "So, it still hurts a little bit, but I go in [to the bathroom], and there was a little bottle there, and I wanted to put eye drops in my eye." It turned out the bottle wasn't eye drops, it was nail glue.
Finley panicked, thinking she might lose her eyesight as she recalled, "When we got to the hospital, they just hooked up an IV bag with tubing and just sat here and just flushed my eye, and the guy was getting the glue out." She further added during the episode, "It was so awful. I can't believe I did that." Talking about the unfortunate mishap, 'Love Is Blind' creator Chris Coelen explained that Finley was only gone overnight while she was at the hospital. "She did go to get checked out," he said, as per Entertainment Weekly.
He added that leaving for medical treatment didn't affect her dating in the pods because she didn't miss any full days, sharing, "We always encouraged them, the participants, to communicate with one another exactly what's going on with them [during their dates]." Coelen further added, "She would've been back in time the next day to have the date with whoever she wanted to go on the date with the most, sometime probably mid-morning. I don't think it disrupted her in any significant way." Just like us, Coelen told the publication he still couldn't believe what happened with Finley.
"Nothing like that" had ever happened on the show, he said. He added, "Oh my gosh, that was crazy. There are so many things going on that you're not aware of everything that's happening at any one time, but when I did hear about it after the fact, obviously your first impulse is to make sure that she's okay, and she was okay, thank goodness, and didn't have any kind of damage or any real [lasting consequences]. But still, the thought of putting glue into your eye was crazy. We all can laugh about it now, but yeah, it was crazy at the time."
