Who was Tyler Duckworth? ‘The Challenge’ winner remembered after his death at 44
Two-time winner of ‘The Challenge,’ Tyler Duckworth, died in North Dakota at the age of 44. The ‘Real World: Key West’ star’s mother shared the news via Facebook on Thursday, August 13, 2026. She wrote, “My son, Tyler, passed away earlier this week. Cause of death has yet to be determined. I will post on Facebook about services as soon as his dad and I figure it out.” The Sun reported that, according to North Dakota officials, he died just before noon on Tuesday.
As per People, on August 11, 2026, at 11:45 a.m., one of Tyler’s neighbors reported water coming through the ceiling. Police officers were soon dispatched to his residence, where he was found deceased in his bathroom. The authorities stated that, despite a pending investigation, there were no signs of foul play. On July 31, 2026, Tyler attended ‘The Challenge’ Mania event in Minneapolis. Fellow reality TV stars, including Mark Long, Tina Barta, Rachel Robinson, and Brad Fiorenza, were also in attendance.
After the event, Tyler also shared a post on Instagram as he thanked everyone. “So proud to represent my hometown of Minneapolis along with these other challenge legends,” he said. He added, “The fans are what keep us coming out! Hearing your stories of courage, inspiration & joy that you’ve got being a fan of the franchise is humbling each and every time.” Tyler participated in the hit show several times, with his first appearance on MTV’s ‘The Real World: Key West’ in 2006. He was then seen on ‘The Duel’, ‘The Gauntlet III’, ‘Cutthroat’, and ‘Rivals’ along with two spin-off shows, ‘All Stars’ 2 and ‘All Stars’ 3. Among these, Tyler won ‘Cutthroat’ with teammates Dunbar Merrill, Brad Fiorenza, and Tori Fiorenza, and ‘Rivals’ with Johnny Bananas.
Showrunner Justin Booth spoke to Variety and shared how “gutted” ‘The Challenge’ community was after learning about Tyler's death. “The young man who first came into our universe as a comical and sensitive personality developed into a force who would become a two-time champion, and he will be sorely missed.” He added, “We are devastated, and we send our most heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, young man.”
