The latest season of ‘The Pitt’ wrapped up with a finale that didn’t exactly offer easy answers, especially when it came to one of its newest faces. Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) entered Season 2 as a temporary replacement for Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle). With Robby planning to step away for three months, she was brought in from the VA to keep things running. At first glance, she came across as capable and more than ready to handle the pressure. But as the season progressed, small cracks began to show, and by the time the finale aired, those cracks became harder to ignore. The turning point actually came when it was revealed that Dr. Al-Hashimi had been secretly dealing with a seizure disorder. Dr. Robby eventually confronted her, and the conversation did not stay calm for long.

Their exchange escalated into a heated clash, with both characters refusing to back down. Robby pushed her to report her condition and seek proper treatment. He made it clear that if she did not take that step herself, he would do it for her. Speaking to Decider, Moafi opened up about filming that intense moment. She explained, “Getting to unleash in that moment felt kind of cathartic because it’s existential for her. It’s not just her health, it’s her life. It’s everything she’s worked her entire life to get this position as a doctor.” While the argument left a mark, it was the final moments of the episode that truly stuck. The last time viewers saw Dr. Al-Hashimi, she was alone in her car, breaking down as she came to terms with her condition. Interestingly, that scene was originally even more detailed than what made it to the screen.

Moafi revealed that parts of the sequence were trimmed during editing, including a phone call between Al-Hashimi and her ex-husband. In that version, she reaches out to ask if he can take care of their son for the night. She tries to sound composed, but it is clear she is struggling to keep her emotions in check. He offers to come pick her up, and that moment almost breaks her completely. In Moafi’s words, “And this makes me emotional just thinking about it, because all she wants is to be taken care of. All she wants to support and help and love. She’s feeling so shattered, so undeserving, so alone. So she’s choking back tears as she tells him, ‘No, no, no, I’m fine’.” She added, “She’s getting off the phone as fast as she can and finally gets off and and just crumbles.”

Getting into the car in the first place was not an easy decision. It was partly driven by frustration after her confrontation with Robby, almost like a stubborn attempt to prove she still had control. But once she imagined her son sitting beside her, that illusion faded. Moafi explained, “You know, she’s like, ‘I cannot do this.’ She has to accept that she needs to stop. She needs to slow down. She needs to not drive, give up her license, and figure out how she’s going to move forward.” What comes next for the character remains unclear. The show has already confirmed that Dr. Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) will not return in Season 3. However, Al-Hashimi’s position is still uncertain. The finale does not confirm whether she will step away, adjust her role, or fight to stay exactly where she is, and for now, the suspense continues.
