So when he was nowhere to be spotted on the show's trailer clip for Season 9 and even on the premiere episode, fans began to worry for obvious reasons. Why is Captain Lee missing from 'Below Deck' Season 9?
Fans need not worry about Captain Lee's absence as he will be back soon on the later episodes of the season. The "stud of the seas" had to miss the first few days of the charter season due to his health condition. Although he didn't go into details of his mystery health condition, in an interview with E! He confirmed that it wasn't COVID-19 related. He said, "I am much better. The timing was mainly screwed up. Because we have such a tight shooting schedule, it was imperative that the guests' charters start and end on time so it didn't have a domino effect and impact every charter after that."
Since the show was filmed during COVID-19, it brought along a host of challenges. But our brave Captain didn't shy away from them and faced them head-on. He also told the outlet that he was the "happiest guy in the world" when he finally got back on the yacht. "It really felt good to get back on the water. When I finally got on board, I was the happiest guy in the world." We are sure fans too will be pretty happy to see his familiar face back on the screen.
During Captain Lee's absence, Sean Meagher stepped in for him.
Who is Captain Sean Meagher?
It's a pretty big job to fill in Captain Lee's shoes, but Captain Sean Meagher seems to be the perfect man for the job considering his rich and varied experience on the seas. According to his LinkedIn page, the new captain has a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is a licensed coastguard and has held many roles in the past such as manager, broker, captain, and even expedition leader, amongst several others.
Despite his impressive resume looks like not everybody is happy with the new Captain, according to the season's synopsis shared by the network. "When an unexpected delay leaves Captain Lee stranded on land, Captain Sean Meagher steps in to oversee the ship with a “hands-on” management style catching the crew off guard and yearning for the “Stud of the Sea’s” swift return."
The Below Deck season 9 cast includes Captain Lee, Captain Sean, Bosun Eddie Lucas, Rachel Hargrove as chef, Heather Chase as Chief Stew, Jessica Albert as Stew, Fraser Olender as Stew and Deckhands Rayna Lindsay, Wes, O’Dell and Jake Foulger.
'Below Deck' Season 9 premieres on Monday, October 25 at 9/8c on Bravo.
