Yungblud's 'Weird!' quarantine music video sees fans getting creative with hair as they say 'we needed this'
English singer-songwriter Yungblud has shared the official music video for his inspirational new single 'Weird!' on April 27. The song will most likely feature on his new album which he had to postpone during the coronavirus pandemic. Yungblud embraces uncertainty as the song's message. He highlights the peace of the rested mind and the freeing emotion that comes with it, pointing out "Don't wreck your brain, it'll be alright. We're in a weird time of life" in the lyrics.
Yungblud relayed his message of hope when he was asked, "If the world was going to end tomorrow, what would be the last story you told?" at the opening of the video. Shot in quarantine in Los Angeles with his three-person crew, we see a colorful vignette of the rocker jamming his guitar, searching the fridge for food, and bicycle-kicking his legs while laying down in the face of this "weird" time.
Among several pictures showing off their sketches of Yungblud, the responses to the new music video were filled with fans showing their new make-up style which drew inspiration from the video as well as the song's artwork.
Fans were also comforted by the song's free-spirited nature and colorful theme. "Can I say it makes me feel incredibly happy, the combination of colors of this music video, and because of that, it’s literally my favorite?" wrote a fan while another shared, "This is art, I'm crying." One fan said, "I will always f**king adore music videos made through the phone and these kind of edited videos... this is the music video that made me the happiest and I really mean it when I say we needed this (sic)." Another said, "I hope ur neighbors enjoyed watching you film this video (sic)."
The 'Weird!' music video arrives on the same day of Yungblud launched his new YouTube Originals weekly series, 'Stay Home With: Yungblud'. Fans will get see the 22-year-old singer write new songs, cook meals and stay connected to his UK family while under quarantine at a rental apartment in Los Angeles along with four friends: his manager, videographer and two bandmates, according to Billboard.
