It's one thing when a sexy, neon-lit murder mystery is a route to unravel who killed the victim. It's another thing when a whole pilot drifts by and one still can't fathom just why a murderous couple is going on a violent rampage. Showtime's latest thriller 'We Hunt Together' introduced us to the curious case of Baba (Dipo Ola) and Freddy (Hermione Corfield), who have started a string of murders that they don't seem to be quitting any time soon.

But as the second episode draws nearer, a trailer for the same teases an apprehension that might see Freddy on the prowl again as detectives Lola Franks (Eve Myles) and Jackson Fendy (Babou Ceesay) get real close to trapping her down. The official trailer for Episode 2 begins with Freddy asking Baba if they are in the clear, in the wake of her older, aggressive beau Simon's murder.

It's been two days since Simon was left clad in nothing by socks and a ball gag, face down on his bed with a knife lodged in the back of his neck. The first episode also ended with Lola and Jackson, new partners and polar opposites on the case, zeroing in on the sex workers the victim frequented. So Freddy's chat with Baba most likely aligns with the day the detectives show up to question her about the incident.

It is, however, the nature of their chat that strikes as odd. Freddy is plastered with a smug smile on her face as she talks about intellectual superiority over her male counterparts and her awfully calm composure perhaps raises doubt in the minds of Lola, whose voiceover can be heard in the end talking about how Freddy has always been playing them since the beginning. We're not sure if this voiceover comes in the immediate next episode, but if it doesn't it would be time behind bars for Freddy immediately.

The trailer also shows Freddy in the car next to a bald man who's being strangled from behind by a rope, hinting at another murder in her record. While it's uncertain whether this murder is a new one or a frequent habit from the past, it does become clear that Freddy's murderous instincts aren't an isolated appearance. There's more where that came from and the interrogations are only a stepping stone to what looks like an arrest warrant very soon.

'We Hunt Together' airs on Sundays at 10 pm on Showtime.
