Spoilers for 'We Hunt Together' Episode 1

US television networks banking on UK television shows seems to be working out for Showtime as the channel's latest thriller 'We Hunt Together' manages to leave fans shocked and a little rattled with its dark, sexual tension between a pair of killers, and a confusing budding tension between a pair of newly partnering detectives. Primarily a murder mystery that borrows its elements from neon-painted neo-noir thrillers like those of Nicholas Winding Refn, the Showtime series has now been labeled 'too wild' with fans not sure if they want to 'continue watching'.

Surrounding the inexplicable bond between Baba (Dipo Ola) and Freddy (Hermoine Corfield) who meet at a nightclub after the former saves the latter from getting sexually assaulted. Freddy somewhat manipulates Baba into killing her older partner who was trying to force himself on her. Lying with his face against the bed, arms and legs spread and cuffed to the bedpost, dressed in nothing but his socks, a ball gag, and a knife lodged deep into the back of his neck - the older man's he murder scene is cut out for a detective's palette. Unfortunately, DI Jackson Fendy (Babou Ceesay) and DS Lola Franks (Eve Myles), who have been newly appointed as partners, couldn't disagree more with each other on the case.

Baba and Freddy, and Lola and Jackson are in for a ride! (Showtime)

That's all for the first episode, which established a sure to be spurring sexual tension between Lola and Jackson despite their initial brush against each other, and vastly different personalities and priorities. Baba and Freddy, on the other hand, are more of your 'Natural Born Killers', who dive deeper into their unique bond intertwined with dark desires and a thirst for violence. The story is more of a whydunnit than a whodunnit murder mystery, and even though we know Freddy got the older man killed because he confronted her about Baba, it's not possible she was so terrified of a one-man army. There's lingering suspense about why Freddy and Baba murder the other man and as of now, once can't even fathom just why.

Probably why this strange tale of love and lust amidst blood and bodies has made fans so indecisive about their loyalty towards the thriller. "We Hunt Together is too wild. Not sure I want to continue watching this. Eek!," wrote a fan on Twitter.

Another remarked: "Watching #WeHuntTogether, realizing that I watch alot of dark shows."

A third fan pointed out how the buzzing craze for Shark Week 2020 that just started on Discovery tonight should be replaced with this new thriller. "Ayye I know folks going nutz for #SharkWeek2020 but how’bout @Showtime #WeHuntTogether #WOAH," tweeted the viewer.

Another pointed out "I'm officially hooked on #WeHuntTogether it's dark, edgy, intense and dramatic with a perfect cast I look forward to seeing where it all goes and how it ends."

On another note, a fan also noted how "So this is the origin story for both couples. I'm in." Guess we all are!

'We Hunt Together' premiered on August 10 and will air on Wednesdays at 10 PM only on Showtime.
