Stefan Babcock and fellow bandmates of the Canadian punk-rock band PUP have shared a new song 'Waiting For Something To Happen' that was written under quarantine and inspired by the subject of the lockdown.

Babcock, the frontman of PUP (an abbreviation of Pathetic Use of Potential) posted the song along with a video where we see him playing an acoustic guitar while drummer Zack Mykula provides percussions on a sampler pad and Rachel O'Connor plays the French horn.

The song takes a more folk route compared to the band's usual punk themes and reflects as a boredom ramble anthem with lyrics referring to Babcock's phone being "dead for days" due to a missing charger and lines like "You barely feel like you're alive" and "Losing touch with everyone I know. I should call them. But I don't."

The sluggish French horn adds subtle humor to the already droll-tinged number as if a school's winning team has just lost a big game and that side fella in the school brass band tries to reignite hope by starting up the music again.

On the sampler pad entrance, Mykula gives a cheeky grin, peeking into the camera from his video overlay and we can tell the video isn't your average hope-charged quarantine track.

On the band's Twitter, they said, "Stef wrote this song last week and Zack played sampler pads on it." They added, "This doesn’t sound like PUP coz the 4 of us can't be in the same room together but maybe you'll like it anyway. Quarantine is boring as shit."

On Babcock's Twitter, one fan wrote of the new song, "That was amazing. I'm just freaking out thinking that you must have neighbors who presumably get to hear all this live. Now that's a lockdown," to which the lead singer replies, "My neighbors absolutely hate my guts for constantly subjecting them to crap like this."

Fans, on the other hand, have labeled the song "so dope", "amazing" and "so damn good". One fan said, "That french horn is so dope!! thank you for creating this, your music really helps get me through the day & makes me so happy." while sharing that they have even made customized PUP hats in the new simulation video game 'Animal Crossing'.

PUP's latest album is 'Morbid Stuff' which came out last year and features their hit 'Kids'.
