What happened to Jack (Nicole Munoz) and Violet (Keeya King) in the Dark Realm? What happened to Vanessa (Kelly Overton)? Is the Dark One (Tricia Helfer) really gone for good? And if she is, what happens next?

The season finale will aim to wrap all these questions up, as well as a few more, as it turns out that there are still more secrets about Jack and Violet's origin left to be revealed.

The fate of the world is at stake, and the events that occurred in the Dark Realm may be just what's needed to see the fall of the vampiric reign.

In the last episode, we saw Jack and Violet learn that the weapon needed to defeat the Dark One is themselves — one bite from them can finally destroy the Dark One and keep her from returning to the world.

Vanessa sacrificed herself to keep the Dracula trapped in the Dark Realm, and we've seen nothing of her since. However, when Jack and Violet emerged from the portal, they returned without Vanessa — but before losing consciousness, Jack is able to get the words "The Dark One is gone" out.

To what extent that is true remains to be seen, and true or not, the battle in the Dark Realm seems to have come at a high cost, as on returning Violet is hit by convulsions.

In the promo for the season finale, we see Violet and Jack in the shadowy realm of the Dark One, who has apparently been waiting for them. She hints that their true purpose is yet to be revealed.

Dracula appears to have been weakened somehow, as even in the Dark Realm, she walks with a cane. She's still powerful enough to keep Violet's attacks at bay, however, and if Violet and Jack are to take her down, they more than have their work cut out for them. Check out the promo below:

The finale episode of 'Van Helsing' Season 4 airs on Syfy on December 20.
