Scott McGillivray is known for transforming homes and making them into something the owners have always wanted. In the latest episode (July 18), McGillivray decides to meet Crystal and Scott, the owners of European homes who are not planning to renovate it.

Crystal and Scott opened up about their plans and stated that they wanted a house that they could come and settle down into once they retire while adding that they would love for it to be a guest house until then. The pair also reflected on how the house had some of their German roots reflected in it. The house belonged to Scott's father who died recently and it was important for him that while the renovation happens, the house does not lose the touch of the family legacy that is attached to it. McGillivray understood the sentiments that were attached to the house and decided to go around it to see what can be done.

The first thing he noticed was how the number of wallpapers in the house. He counted nearly nine wallpapers. Meanwhile, another thing that he noticed was that the kitchen was cramped. McGillivray thought the guests, especially if they are a family, would not like the idea of having a cramped kitchen. He decided to break some walls to make sure that the house had an open kitchen. Meanwhile, McGillivray thought another thing that would make the house stand out and turn it into a money magnet would be a beer garden. Seeing the land that was left untouched in the backyard, McGillivray knew it was important for him to make use of it.

Without wasting any time, he laid out a plan that he thought would be fit to turn the house around and give it the appeal that attracts guests. To add an extra touch to the entire house, McGillivray decided they would have wooden doors that would be hand-painted. McGillivray thought having that in the house would make it stand out and will act as an inviting factor. Once the walls were broken and renovations were made, Crystal and Scott were invited to the house. The pair was in love with the renovation and thought it did justice to the family legacy.

'Vacation House Rules' airs on Saturdays at 8 pm ET on HGTV.
