Tyra Banks is reportedly not likely to return to 'Dancing With the Stars' next season. The decision to leave the controversial host behind comes as the long-running reality competition prepares to move from broadcast TV to the streaming platform Disney+.

According to The U.S. Sun, the host has been fired from her job following record-low ratings. One source close to the outlet told the publication, "Production has been a mess, with no clear direction of where [the show] was going, which is why certain producers have been axed in recent months." They added, "The mix of the behind-the-scenes chaos and the historically low ratings ultimately was the nail in the coffin. ABC didn’t feel it was worth the investment anymore, but didn’t want to drop it as a whole."

Besides low ratings, Banks also received a lot of backlash during her short time hosting the competition series for seasons 29 and 30. In a problem-plagued Season 29, the fashion icon announced the wrong bottom two couples during the elimination process, blaming the broadcast blunder on a cue card mistake.

The following season, critics lashed out at everything from her interview style to her "taking too long" to announce Iman Shumpert as the season's winner during the finale. A fan petition to replace her on Change.org earned more than 14,000 signatures.

Banks replaced veteran ‘DWTS’ hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews in July 2020 as the series headed in a fresh creative direction that shocked many of its viewers, some of whom were simply not ready to accept her.

As the competition series has been renewed for two seasons and will become the streaming service’s first live series, the production also wanted to get rid of any controversial factor that could affect the streaming of the show.

However, it is yet to be revealed as to who will replace the ex-Victoria's Secret model. A source told the Sun, "There is no official decision on who will be hosting next season, but it doesn’t look like Tyra will be back. Which would be a network decision, not her decision."

But the insider claims that Tyra is not completely responsible for the show's move. The source confessed that "I wouldn't say it's Tyra's fault the show got dropped by the network. I mean, that certainly didn't help, but she came in and did the job she was hired to do [...] The problem is, she just didn't fit in. She didn't fit in with the producers, and she didn't fit with the audience, and it showed. "
