Idol Star Athletics Championship aka ISAC is considered the sports day of K-pop that was launched by MBC in 2010 and had almost every idol participating in it every year. In early 2020, right before the pandemic, the K-pop Olympics saw its highest peak as 202 idols competed. It is held twice a year during the South Korean holidays Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Lunar New Year. However, it was canceled in 2021 due to Covid-19. But ISAC has finally returned and so has our favorite MC – TWICE’s Dahyun.

ISAC often has K-pop fans torn as some idols are exhausted as they go from their usual gruelling promotions to participating in sports events. But for those athletic idols who do enjoy the mini K-pop Olympics, they have given us tons of iconic and meme-worthy moments. We had BTOB’s Sungjae not taking his archery match seriously at all to BTOB’s Minhyuk taking it too seriously. Even non-fans cannot forget the hilarious celebration when SHINee’s Minho and Onew had run towards f(x)’s Luna only for Onew to accidentally tackle her back in 2011.

TWICE’s Dahyun returns as ISAC MC

And the latest meme to crop up from ISAC actually involved the MC as TWICE’s Dahyun in 2019 who accidentally announced that the participants were warming up. While the participating idols on the field were just standing, on hearing her, they started stretching to cover up her mistake. We got another adorable moment between her and co-host Jun Hyun-moo when she commented that Coach Han Ki-bum looked like comedian Lee Kwang-soo. Hyun-moo was surprised that that is how Dahyun knew the coach and revealed that Han was actually an Olympics-level basketball player and had represented South Korea in 1988.

Well, on July 19, it was announced that Dahyun would be returning as the MC for the third time along with TV personality Jun Hyun-moo and F.T. Island’s Hongki. MBC also revealed that there will be five categories - track, archery, futsal, e-sports and the new addition – dance sports. The latest category will include competitive ballroom dancing and will be co-hosted by Hongki and special guests HOOK’s Aiki and ballroom champion Park Ji-eun.

The Chuseok version of ISAC will be filmed from July 30 to August 1 and air around September 9 on MBC.

Well, TWICE fans are trending Dahyun with tweets like, “We will see mc kim dahyun in a suit again at 2022 ISAC's Chuseok Special.” Another posted, “It’s official. ISAC MC Dahyun is back.” One fan shared, “Isac dahyun is back and we cheer.” Another commented, “Oh, dahyun is back and born to be an mc— i just know she’s gonna make isac ten times more interesting than it should be ^-^.” One fan said, “Isac dahyun in 2022 twiceland is officially back to being a proper country.” Another added, “Now that mc dahyun for 2022 isac chuseok is confirmed... i can't wait to see this dahyun again.”
