The series' third episode delves further into the unexplained deaths of the men. As Danvers and Navarro work tirelessly to solve the mystery, they come across an important name: Oliver Tagaq.

When Danvers and Navarro search for the items on the Raymond Clarke (Owen McDonnell) trailer, they see that someone else may be aware of their covert relationship. They come across the name of the town's hairdresser, Suzan.

Upon questioning Suzan about the secret she held regarding Clarke and Anne Kowtk's affair, she reveals that she was instructed to keep it a secret and informed Captain Hank Prior about it after Anne's murder.

The revelation leaves Danvers and Navarro both shocked and puzzled, wondering why Hank had chosen to withhold such vital information.

Nevertheless, the duo uncovers another potentially significant name in the case—Oliver Tagaq, a former equipment engineer at the research center who departed just days before Anne's murder.

The abrupt nature of Oliver's departure from the research center captures the attention of the detective duo, leading them to believe that he may possess crucial information about the case.

With Oliver's location still unknown, Navarro seeks out Eddie Qavvik (Joel D Montgrand) for information. Eddie discloses Oliver's whereabouts under the condition of a quid pro quo. Danvers and Navarro locate Oliver at a nomad camp on the north shore.

Approaching him, Oliver appears hostile, brandishing a gun and threatening the duo. When Navarro inquires about the deaths of the eight men, Oliver expresses surprise and redirects the conversation to Lund.

Upon learning that Lund is alive but in a coma, Oliver urges the women to abandon their pursuit and never look back. His refusal to communicate leaves Danvers and Navarro unsure of what to do next.

‘True Detective: Night Country’ is now streaming on HBO Max.
