Late Bob Saget’s close friend John Stamos called out the Tony Awards 2022 over the weekend for snubbing the iconic actor in the In Memoriam segment. John Stamos took to his Twitter to express his concern saying that he was disappointed that Bob Saget was not part of the celebrities to be mourned during the coveted show.

The 75th edition of the Tony Awards was held at New York City's Radio City Musical Hall. John Stamos had expressed his concern regarding Saget prior to the award ceremony as it seems he must have got the list before the show aired. Speaking of the award show, ‘A Strange Loop’ grabbed Best Musical of the 2021-22 Broadway season. Joaquina Kalukango of ‘Paradise Square’ and newcomer Myles Frost of ‘MJ’ took home the awards for best acting. It was a big day for Jennifer Hudson as she earned her EGOT status becoming only the second Black woman and 17th overall to earn the coveted designation.

John Stamos calls out Tony Awards over Bob Saget's snub

Taking to his Twitter account, Stamos said, “Disappointed to hear that @bobsaget will be LEFT OUT of the In Memoriam segment tonight @TheTonyawards. Bob was brilliant in The Drowsy Chaperone & Hand to God. Come on @BroadwayLeague and @TheWing! Do the right thing! Bob loved Broadway and I know the community loved him.”

Bob Saget was best known for his work on the small screen but he got featured in two Broadway shows during his prolific career. In 2006, Saget took on the role of “Man in Chair” in The Drowsy Chaperone. In 2015, Saget stepped in for Marc Kudisch as “Pastor Greg” in Hand to God. John Stamos had honored Saget in the Netflix special ‘Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute.’ The two have been close buddies since the time they shared the screen on the iconic sitcom ‘Full House’ from 1987 to 1995. Bob Saget died in Orlando, Florida on January 9 at the age of 65. According to the authorities, the actor died from head trauma after "he accidentally hit the back of his head.”

‘First the Oscars and now The Tony Awards’

Reacting to John Stamos’ tweet, one user stated, “I know Bob Saget is watching over you John Stamos, and depends on you to treat his legacy with respect to be a good friend to him.  You've convinced me a long time ago that you are a good person but you've also shown great support to your friend Bob Saget to this day that shows.” Another user stated, “He DESERVES to be part of it! That's outrageous!”  One posted, “@bobsaget will always be in memoriam to me, he will continue to live on within his children, his wife, and especially you John! He loved you very much and you were his Ride Or Die!”

The next one tweeted, “Oh wow, after the love you and Bob have shown Broadway throughout the years?? First the Oscars and now The Tony Awards, now I know why I stopped watching the award shows altogether.” And, one concluded, “I was really hoping they would change their minds and include him. What a huge slap in the face to his memory. As a life-long lover of Broadway (and of Bob Saget), I am disappointed and heartbroken. Bob deserved better, and you all know it.”
