What is an EGOT status?
An EGOT status refers to a designation given to people who have won all four of the big awards i.e. Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. EGOT status has been referred to as the "grand slam" of show business. Speaking of Jennifer Hudson, she won her first of the big four awards, an Oscar, for her role in 2007 ‘Dreamgirls’. She then scooped two Grammy awards. She later scored a Daytime Emmy for the animated short ‘Baba Yaga’, which she co-produced and lent her voice to.
Speaking to People in 2020 about becoming an EGOT, the actress joked, “I should get two more dogs” adding, “I got a dog and named it Oscar, and then I won my Oscar. And then I got a dog and named it Grammy, and then I won my Grammy.” She continued, “So I think I should get some dogs and name them Emmy and Tony- and it'll give me good luck, and I'll win. [They're] like my good luck charms."
