British artist Tom Grennan was reportedly assaulted and hospitalized following a concert at New York City's Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday, April 20, in "an unprovoked attack and robbery." His manager, John Dawkins, stated on social media on Thursday that the incident occurred "in the early hours" of Thursday "outside a bar in Manhattan," and that the 26-year-old artist remained hospitalized.

"Tom is currently in hospital being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured ear, torn eardrum and issue with his previously fractured jaw," says the statement. "Despite this Tom is in good spirits but needs to temporarily recuperate whilst doctors assess his ability to continue with touring."

While Grennan "is desperate not to let anyone down," his management made a "precautionary decision to postpone" a scheduled engagement on Friday at the Miracle Theatre in Washington, DC, according to the notice. Updates on rescheduling will be provided, according to the statement. The statement concluded, "We wish to thank Tom’s incredible US fans for their support and understanding."

Fans flocked to his social media accounts, calling the alleged incident "disgusting and heartbreaking" and wishing him a "speedy recovery" and urged him to "stay strong." Grennan, who was nominated for several BRIT Awards in 2022, including song of the year for "Little Bit of Love," thanked his New York fans in a social post on Thursday afternoon, writing, "the big apple... you lot are magic," and including a selfie on Broome Street and a stage-view photo from his Wednesday show.

Grennan also posted several short videos of himself onstage, wearing a dark tank top and what appeared to be brown leather trousers, hopping around and playing "Little Bit of Love" to his Instagram Story. He wrote captions thanking "everyone who came out" and noted that fans were "queuing around the block" before the show.
