Timbaland took to social media on September 28 to announce an epic return with a new song. The legendary producer teased the new track on Instagram, writing "We back!!!!!!! @justintimberlake," in the caption for his post. The new teaser comes with a preview video of the song which shows Timbaland and Justin Timberlake bopping their heads to the track as Timbaland says, "That's a beat!"

We are only given a few bars of the song, but sonically, it instantly feels like a potential hit with a smooth bassline playing the melody and a fattened bass drum on the beat. You can see the clip here.

Fans on Instagram were quick to share their excitement about the new song. "JT & Timbo a deadly combination," said a fan while another wrote,  "Where's Nelly Furtado to make it all complete.I love y'all," referring to another famous Timbaland collaborator.

It hasn't been confirmed yet whether the new announcement is for a single or a teaser to an album, and neither has the song's title been revealed, but it will mark their first new music together in 11 years after 'Carry Out'. The frequent collaborators also featured on Free Sol's 'Fascinated' in 2011. According to NME, Timbaland also teased a sequel to Timberlake‘s 2006 album ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’. With a photograph of himself and Timberlake performing together, on Instagram, he teased: "FUTURE SEXY LOVESOUNDS pt (two)," followed by a pair of zipped lip emojis.

The critically acclaimed album, which was released in 2006, featured the US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles ‘SexyBack’, ‘My Love’ and ‘What Goes Around… Comes Around’. The album sold over 10M copies worldwide and has been certified multi-platinum in many countries.

The record has been added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's musical library and archive. ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ is also considered by critics and fans to be one of Timberlake's best albums to date. To further promote the album, Timberlake embarked on his second concert tour titled FutureSex/LoveShow, which became one of the highest-grossing tours in 2007.

Timbaland wrote and produced the majority of the album alongside Timberlake while also appearing as featured artist on the tracks ‘Chop Me Up’ and ‘SexyBack’. Meanwhile, as producer, Timbaland has worked on several tracks in 2020 including Missy Elliott's 'Why I Still Love You', the Missy Elliott & H.E.R. track 'Zero Sugar Done Right', Carson Lueders' 'No Caption', Sidnie Tipton's 'Look Both Ways' and Ludacris' 'Silence Of The Lambs'.
