'Thor: Love and Thunder' ended with a familiar message MCU fans are used to seeing. 'Thor will return' was a simple, but impactful phrase that suggested that there was still room for the God of Thunder in the MCU. Unlike his fellow OG Avengers, Chris Hemsworth's character now has four standalone films, one more than Captain America and Iron Man. 'Love and Thunder' also ended with a new character in India Hemsworth who is all set to battle some baddies in her next installment, although we're likely to see a time jump (meaning India may not necessarily play the role).

But what matters is the possibility of a 'Thorquel'. While there can be that possibility where Thor returns either in a mega affair or maybe in one of the limited series, there's also every chance that he can indeed be in a fifth movie. The mid-credits scene introduced Hercules in the MCU, and that would mean a Thor v Hercules scrimmage on the cards. Ahead of the fifth movie, here's what we know so far.

Who is starring in 'Thor 5'?

Expect the usual names to return. Chris Hemsworth as Thor Odinson, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Taika Waititi as Korg, India Hemsworth as Love, and perhaps the Guardians of the Galaxy making a cameo as well. Also joining them will be =Russell Crowe and Brett Goldstein as Zeus and Hercules respectively.

When will 'Thor 5' release?

Unfortunately, no release dates beyond Marvel Phase 4 have been announced just yet, so there's no concrete date when' Thor 5' could release. 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Love and Thunder' had a long five-year gap and with the key characters having their own projects to finish, expect the sequel to perhaps get some traction closer to 2023. This would still mean a potential 2025 release.

What is the plot of 'Thor 5'?

With Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) dying of cancer, and Thor now adopting Gorr the God Butcher's (Christian Bale) daughter, the next sequel would pretty much feature the duo possibly taking on Hercules. The upcoming movie could also see the "dad" side of Thor, especially after he saves the children from Gorr's clutches and even goes into some new adventures with Love who now wields the Stormbreaker. As far as his encounter with Hercules goes, they're pretty much frenemies in the comics, and it's unlikely that the mighty champion stays an antagonist. What remains to be seen is the new villain the MCU will have in store.

Will Taika Waititi return to helm the MCU movie?

It shouldn't be surprising if Marvel asks Waititi to helm the sequel. He directed 'Ragnarok' and with 'Love and Thunder' opening to positive acclaim, it makes sense that he returns. The success behind both movies shows his understanding of Thor as a superhero and he manages to balance the action, the comedy, and the emotions perfectly.

Hemsworth intends to be the God of Thunder

In what was a rather broad answer, Chris Hemsworth shed light on his future as Thor. In an interview with Extra, "I'll come back for more and more until someone kicks me off the stage, you know. I love it," he said. "My whole career has been based around me playing this character and to come back again and again and play it with different directors and different casts has been an absolute joy. And, yeah, we'll see what the fans want, and I don't know, I'm down for whatever is enjoyable and having a good time. That's what this experience in the Marvel world has been for me, so bring it on."
