This Is Us’ Niles Fitch is Disney's first live-action black prince, fans feel ‘weird it made history in 2020’

The 18-year-old will star as Prince Tuma, who is Disney's first live-action black prince in the upcoming film, 'Secret Society of Second-Born Royals'

If you are a 'This Is Us' fan, you may recognize Niles Fitch as the teenage version of Randall Pearson. The young boy has now made history after being cast as Disney's first live-action black prince in the upcoming film, 'Secret Society of Second-Born Royals'.

The 18-year-old will star as Prince Tuma who is known as a 'Secret Society' hopeful with 'super-human ability,' which is 'vital to the team's success.' However, 'his self-centered nature needs a lesson in empathy.' Together with other second-in-line royals, Fitch's character will save the world.

No sooner was the news announced across social media pages, fans couldn't stop gushing about it. Sharing it with his fans, Fitch wrote on Instagram, "Welcome Disney’s first Black prince @disneyplus." Sterling K Brown himself wrote back to his younger co-star, "When did you squeeze this in, Slim?! #Werk."

Fitch was quick to react and said, "@sterlingkbrown YOU gave me the blueprint!" 

Twitter is buzzing with joyful tweets. "This is really dope. Congratulations to #NilesFitch! It’s about to time we get some Black princes and kings on mainstream platforms," one fan wrote on Twitter and another posted, "It's weird that this makes history in 2020. About time, Disney! Hopefully it's a great role and I wish this handsome young man all the best."

'Secret Society of Second-Born Royals' (Disney+)

His little version on 'This Is Us' also sent a congratulatory note and wrote, "SENDING A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS COOL GUY @nilesfitch he is making history as @disneyplus first black live-action prince. I'm so proud of you!! Thanks for being an awesome role model to look up to. #nilesfitch #DisneyPlus #nbcthisisus #randallpearson #princetuma." 

A few fans on Instagram excitedly posted how he was looking like a prince "Looking like the Prince you are! Let’s gooooo!" one comment read and another said, "Okay but... princess and the frog, tho." Another said, "Yes! I’ve wondered when they’d do this. So happy for you and every kid who dreams of seeing someone who looks like them on screen playing a positive character! I’m looking forward to watching the movie."

The film has been directed by Anna Mastro and it has been written by Alex Livak and Andrew Green. Produced alongside with Disney Channel, the Disney+ Exclusive film stars Skylar Astin and Peyton Elizabeth Lee.
