Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) has a difficult decision to make. In the fifth episode titled ‘A Long Road Home’, Kevin and Madison Simons (Caitlin Thompson) have a tiff over his decision to go to LA for his movie shoot. Kevin tells her about “two weeks of filming and two weeks of quarantine” and says he will have to leave tomorrow. Bringing up babies is not an easy thing to do and Madison's concerns are valid but aren't Kevin's dreams important too?

Trying to understand his situation, Madison says, “Let's do the math again. You have worked so hard on that movie. That can't be for anything. Go on and pack.” Later, when the two meet their new nanny Natasha Morton (Terryn Westbrook), they have a tiny disagreement over where the kids will be and ask her if she is okay with traveling.

After their meeting, Kevin asks Madison what she really is upset about. “I pushed you to go to Vancouver and now you are upset that we are traveling for my movies,” Kevin says. Madison snaps, “Did you think me and our kids would become your international roadies?” Kevin then retorts, “What do you want me to do? Do you want me to quit acting?”

In a dilemma, Kevin leaves home but he is still confused. What should he really do? In a flashback, we see a young Kevin getting an offer from LA and his family celebrating. At that time, Sophie (Amanda Leighton) was more confident and willing to let him go.

Nonetheless, Randall calls him and suggests he should not go as it would disrupt his relationship with Sophie. When Kevin asks if he thinks he is not talented, Randall explains, “Because you just got married and it will interfere with your life.” At that time, Kevin doesn't listen to him. We clearly know how his relationship went down the drain with Sophie. Will Kevin repeat the same mistake? And should he really sacrifice his dreams for the new relationship?

As the episode comes to a close, Kevin (Justin Hartley) rings up Randall to ask for advice. Calling his strip clip “charming”, he asks him what he would do if he was at his spot. Telling him the complicated situation with Madison, he says, “I thought what would Randall do. I have that thought a lot these days.” The two seemingly reconcile when Randall replies, “I know it seems ironic because I said a lot of horrible things to you but...”

The two also speak about how Randall felt during his childhood but when Beth enters the room, Randall disconnects the call and leaves their conversation mid-way. “Now is not a good time. I have a really important phone call to make.” What will Kevin do now? Will Kevin quit his dream career and movie for Madison? Should he really do that?

One fan said, “Does Kevin even love this woman, or is he familying up with her because of the twins?” and another wrote, “No real love there. He loves the babies and the “idea” of family. Madison wouldn’t even be a thought if she wasn’t pregnant. He better end up with Sophie. I don’t care if it isn’t until the very last episode, he and Sophie need to be endgame. #ThisIsUs.”

A third added, “Periodddd the relationship between Kevin and Madison is so forced, I get that the actress who plays Madison is the wife of the creator irl but c'mon Kevin belongs with Sophie.” And a fourth added, “Y'all wanting Madison to settle for Kevin's just because she's with a hotshot celebrity actor need to sit tf down, they are HER kids too. They are talking and finding ways to make this work for the betterment of their kids (+ each other). A family is not a circus geez.”
