'This Is Us' Season 4: Are writers slowly going against Team Sophie to show Kevin-Madison's love story?
'This Is Us' masterfully sheds light on different aspects of relationships and currently, it is the suspense around Kevin Pearson's (Justin Hartley) future partner that has created quite a debate on social media.
With all the new developments in the latest episodes, fans are slowly inching toward supporting Madison (Caitlin Thompson) as Kevin's love interest. While his childhood friend Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) was the first choice, Madison has slowly taken over after her mature advice for Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz). Surprisingly, even fans from #TeamSophie are in support of Madison now.
"Unpopular opinion, but I'm kinda digging Madison these days?? She's lowkey relatable. Like, hey, best friend... I'm a liiittle bit of a screw up in my personal life, but ayyy I got your back, no questions asked! #ThisIsUs," one fan posted on Twitter and invited a string of like-minded tweets. Another fan was quick to add, "The real unpopular opinion, I actually think that Madison is Kevin’s person. Like legit soul mate. I think the other one is a soul tie but eh like I said unpopular opinion. @NBCThisisUs."
Several others chipped in. "I have always liked Madison. She is a good friend to Kate," one tweet read and another said, "Why is this unpopular? I love Madison, and I'm pulling for Madison/Kevin endgame!!" One fan from #TeamSophie altered her choice after the discussion. "I was totally #teamsophie. But I think I turned a corner with Madison," she posted.
Moreover, fans also said that she has a "big heart" and tagged her as a "cool" person. "I always liked Mads. She can be annoying it’s true who isn’t at times? She’s got a big heart and is an all-around cool person who has vices like anyone else," one tweet read. Another fan pointed out, "Felt like they were humanizing her to is tonight so we could start seeing her as a possibility for Kevin!" and one agreed, "Me too. I’ve never had a problem with Madison. I’m sure if they’re planning to put them together, we’ll get more character development."
A few others, however, feel she is lovely as a person but doesn't deserve to be Kevin's child's mother. "I like Madison but I do not want her to be the mother of Kevin’s son but I think that is going to happen," one fan posted. Another said, "I like her as Kate’s BFF, but not for Kevin. I want him to have the love story and I just can’t see it with those two."
But it's still not entirely confirmed whether Madison will be the "one," especially as the showrunners have a way to manipulate the audience. In an interview with Us Weekly, Hartley, who plays Kevin on the show, said, “We’re almost there. We’re a couple of weeks away. You’ll find out!”
More episodes from 'This Is Us' air on Tuesdays at 9 pm ET on NBC and most probably, the season finale might reveal who really turns out to be Kevin's endgame.
