LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: With Netflix's 'The Witcher' Season 3 being one of the most anticipated shows right now, fans are extremely intrigued to know more about the actors who are playing important roles in the show. Season 1 of 'The Witcher' introduced the audience to Freya Allen, who plays Princess Ciri in the series.

However, fans may not know that she was not always meant to play the role of Princess Ciri. She had to go through a weird casting process before the makers fixated on her playing the role of Ciri. She was originally set to play a different role in the show.

Freya Allen almost played an entirely different role

Freya may have landed her first major role in the form of Ciri in 'The Witcher' but she originally auditioned for a very minor role in the show. Freya found the casting process strange because she was not sure of which character she was supposed to play. However, when she was given to perform the scenes, it turned out that she auditioned for the role of Marilka. She was almost finalized for the role until the casting director Sophie Holland suggested that she should be considered for the role of Ciri.

Freya explained that she got a call the next day that she has been considered for the role of Ciri and that the director Alik Sakharov along with some producers were going to meet her in London to see her play the role, reports Digital Spy. Upon the visit of the director and some of the producers, she was finalized for the role the next day.

Who is the character 'Marilka'?

The character Marilka is considered to be the daughter of Blaviken's alderman and appeared in the first episode of Season 1. In that episode, Stregobor hired her for successfully luring Geralt and she managed to do so by offering money for the killed Kikimora. Even though her father did not have any need for the dead creature, she still asked Geralt to speak to a sorcerer who was notably called 'Master Irion'. However, Master Irion was just an alias of Stregobor. Later when she finds out the number of people Geralt killed, she turned against him and asked him to never come back.

Fans would not have enjoyed watching Freya in such a brief role because she did a good job playing the character of Princess Ciri and fans hope to continue seeing her in the future as well. Henry Cavill is all set to play the role of Geralt of Rivia one last time. 'The Witcher' Season 3 Volume 1 is all set to release on June 29, 2023.
