The Weeknd's ‘The Dawn’: Singer shares first look of video, fans say ‘give us the f**kin date’

Looks like the wait for The Weeknd’s new era is finally over as the renowned R&B star sent his fans into a tizzy after sharing the very first picture from his upcoming full-length project over the weekend. The Grammy award-winning crooner, who has been teasing his new project apparently titled ‘The Dawn' also took to Twitter revealing it might come sooner than we all thought.

The 31-year-old singer-songwriter had earlier completely stripped off his official Instagram account with close to 33 million followers in order to create hype for his new record. However, the R&B star gave a new ray of hope to his fans when he changed the display image on Sunday, August 1, and also shared the very first look for his new record on the same day. The Weeknd had first teased the project at Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) held in May 2021.

‘F**k it ….it starts tonight’

Before revealing the very first look of his upcoming fifth studio album, ‘The Hills’ hitmaker had shared a tweet revealing that album will drop sooner than expected. Sharing the tweet with his close to 15 million followers, he said, “F**k it ... IT STARTS TONIGHT”. He also shared a snippet of his new video with his fans and followers.



 

If we talk about the very first look, we see the singer giving a side pose with his head tilted a bit low. He dons a pair of shades as he looks rugged in his bearded look. The Weeknd looks dapper while donning an all-black leather overcoat as a strong light falls on his face.  If we talk about his new profile picture on Instagram, we can see the singer getting up, close and personal with a gorgeous woman in the monochrome photo.
 
The multi-platinum crooner has been dropping subtle hints for ‘The Dawn is Coming’ from last few months. He had earlier tweeted, “Say your final goodbyes...” followed by an emoticon of sunrise.  Prior to that he had teased his fans saying, “The countdown has begun... in my head.”

On July 14, The Weeknd had shared, “Just so there’s no confusion, it’s a full body of work...  followed by multiple emojis of sunrise.   To reiterate, The Weeknd had first teased about his brand new project at the recent BBMAs where he won 10 awards after receiving a record 16 nominations. While accepting an award, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, said, “I’d like to thank God that I don’t have to wear that red suit anymore” referring to him wearing a red suit for the entire 2020 with an intention to promote his album, ‘After Hours’. He then added, “And I just want to say the After Hours are done and the dawn is coming.”

At the BBMAs, the Canadian singer had scooped Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Song, Top Radio Song, Top Radio Songs Artist and Top R&B Artist.

‘Give us the f**kin date daddy’

Fans completely lost their calm as soon as the Weeknd dropped the tweet and the first look of his new album. An elated fan said, “THE DAWN IS REALLY COMING!!!! @TheWeeknd LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO.” Another posted, “Tonight ? Bro it’s about to be the end of the weekend.” One fan added, “Omg it’s happening xo fam.” Whereas, one user tweeted, “Ahhh don't play wit me abel you serious.” Another added before the official photo was shared, “Abel are you trolling us.” One user was curious about the release date of the album saying, “Give us the f**kin date daddy.” Meanwhile, one tweeted, “CHAPTER VII IS FINALLY HERE OMFG.”  Another user concluded, “No way abel i cant do this rn the dawn is cominggg finally.”
