The Weeknd trolled for giving Michael Jackson vibes at Super Bowl LV, Internet says 'NFL ordered MJ from Wish'
The Weeknd was trolled for his Super Bowl LV halftime performance as many started comparing him to Michael Jackson and said that 'Can't Feel My Face' hitmaker was 'imperonating' MJ. Twitter suddenly lit up with names such as Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson, two artists The Weeknd has often been compared with.
Fans said they got MJ vibes from the 'Blinding Lights' singer, noticing the unmistakable influence in his performance at the Super Bowl. Some even said The Weeknd just had the best Super Bowl halftime performance since Michael Jackson. Others said "It’s giving very much “i wanna be Michael Jackson” vibes". However, the performance clearly received mixed reactions from viewers because not everybody was a fan of the MJ-inspired act.

ESPECIALLY “I Feel It Coming” - almost like it engages the same neural pathway that lights up when I listen to MJ. The same emotions, same memories.#SuperBowl

Not all fans had nice things to say, of course. Some were underwhelmed and didn't like the fact that he was impersonating the King of Pop.
"I feel like I’m watching Tito do a Michael Jackson impersonation," said a Twitter user. "that was... underwhelming. lemme go watch beyoncé and bruno mars halftime show performance again," said another. "I feel like the NFL ordered Michael Jackson from Wish," someone joked. "He definitely think he Michael Jackson and I got news for him," another said. "Made Michael Jackson grabbing his crotch look like art," a netizen quipped.

The Weeknd certainly created some bold visuals, taking over a whole section for a very intricate cityscape setting for a choreographed choir to back him. He performed songs including 'Starboy', 'The Hills', 'Can’t Feel My Face', 'I Feel It Coming', 'Save Your Tears', 'Earned It', 'House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls' and 'Blinding Lights'.
"my mom looking for me as i play hide and seek in the store #SuperBowl #TheWeekn," said someone, commenting on the 'Blinding Lights' performance. "@theweeknd half time performance gave me strong Michael Jackson vibes I also applaud the brilliance of the costume and set design appearing to keep everyone as safe as possible during this pandemic #SuperBowl #HalfTimeShow," said another, in a more positive tone.
